Brits cracked 12 fours on her way to her second ODI hundred, before she was out for 116 off 128 balls, with her effort leading the Proteas to a formidable 270/6 batting first.

Sri Lanka on the other hand was on 23/0 and needed 248 runs.

The two teams last went head-to-head last month in a T20 series, which saw Sri Lanka win 2 of the 3 matches and ultimately win the series.

Speaking on the T20 series, Brits said she was not happy with the series.

“I didn’t have a good T20 series, so getting a century in the first ODI has definitely boosted my confidence,” said Brits.

The teams now head to the Diamond Oval in Kimberley where they will battle it out in the second ODI on Saturday, with the Proteas hoping for another win to lead the series.

Meanwhile, Proteas Bowler Ayabonga Khaka is possibly going to reach another major milestone during the three-match series against Sr Lanka, as she could make her 100th international appearance.

Khaka, who is now on 98 caps (after Tuesday’s match-up against Sri Lanka) will make her 100th appearance in the third game at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom next week Wednesday, should she play in all three ODIs.
