Third T20I: West Indies vs India

West Indies vs India

Rain robbed the West Indies middle order of a shot at redemption against India in the second T20I in Florida.

India have wrapped up the series leaving them free to experiment in the final match of the series.

Tuesday 6 August 2019 |  Providence Stadium, Georgetown, Guyana | 16:30

West Indies 31/20
Tie 35/1
India 52/100

West Indies
The Windies might have felt hard done by in the DLS loss to India in Florida with Kieron Pollard and Shimron Hetmyer at the crease when rain stopped play. It had been an improved batting display from the West Indies but the opening pair failed again.

Rovman Powell was the bright spot with his 54 off 34 balls and his wicket proved to be the vital one for India.

The West Indies have so far only threatened to play some good cricket and need to make a statement as the series moves to the Caribbean.

The bowling has been good from Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas and Sunil Narine but the backup bowlers have taken some tap. India have been troubled by the frontline trident but have found a release when they were taken off.

India
It was another stuttering display from India that ranks as just good enough to win but not enough to satisfy skipper Kohli.

India will be driven to complete the whitewash over the West Indies and find their best T20I form which so far has been hampered by difficult conditions.

Krunal Pandya is proving to have the same match-winning ability in international cricket as he does for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. His handy contributions were instrumental in helping India secure the series win.

Navdeep Saini didn’t have the same impact as in his debut match but Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to be in excellent form upfront. Kumar is now probably the best new ball bowler in the world in the shortest format of the game.

Verdict: India
The tourists will be out to finish off a West Indies team that haven’t been able to build any momentum.
