My Pick to Win: France
I feel that France, riding the wave of national fervour, have an excellent chance of winning this tournament. They have a ferocious midfield consisting of Matuidi, Pogba and Kante. They have the dead-ball talents of Dimitri Payet as well as the services of red-hot striker Antoine Griezmann. This French side could have the perfect recipe for success.
Contenders: Germany and Spain
Both countries have impressive squads and both boast sides with a healthy concoction of youth and experience.
Dark Horses: Croatia and Wales
Croatia have an exciting side but a tough road ahead. I just see that triumvirate of Modric, Rakitic and Mandzukic and see trouble for their opponents. Wales have a world beater in their side, but what separates them from Portugal is the general team ethos that exists. They also have critical players in key places. Ramsey and Allen dominate the middle of the park while Ashley Williams marshals the defence.
Sides to Disappoint: Belgium and Portugal
I feel, Belgium have not done enough to earn their number one world ranking. You can throw as many of those sexy household names at me as you want, I just don’t see it. I can’t see them getting beyond the final eight. Portugal are clearly overly dependent on Ronaldo and haven’t done enough in my opinion to transform the fundamental nature of their squad.
