We’re painting the Halfway mark at Drummond purple this year for the 92nd running of the Comrades Marathon.
Hollywoodbets’ signature purple branding has become a regular feature on the Comrades route. Over the past eight years Hollywoodbets team members have come out in their numbers to support the runners as they push themselves to the limit during this world-famous ultramarathon.
2017 will see us take up a new position as Drummond becomes known as the Hollywoodbets Halfway Point.
Comrades GM Chris Fisher is looking forward to partnering with our team for this year’s event. “We were very impressed with Hollywoodbets’ activation at last year’s event. It was outstanding and it was obvious that a lot of effort and planning went into their water station. This year they step up as a sponsor and have selected the Halfway activation zone. We know this team will do a fantastic job to encourage the runners on their way. Hollywoodbets is guaranteed to deliver a razzmatazz that Comrades Halfway has not seen before. They are bringing 500 of their employees to turn Halfway into something very special,” he said.
Thirty-three runners from the our own Hollywoodbets Athletics Club will also be taking part in the race. Beverley Pillay, Hollywoodbets Event Coordinator, is very excited about this year’s event. “Comrades is definitely a highlight on our calendar every year. This year will be doubly exciting with the Hollywoodbets runners taking part and with our new spot at Drummond. Runners and spectators can expect to see lots of enthusiasm from our team as well as a few entertaining surprises,” she said.
This year’s Comrades Marathon takes place on the 4th of June 2017. It starts at 05:30 and finishes at 17:30.
