The panel discussion will be posted on this page on the day of the broadcast and can be found on the official Hollywoodbets Youtube Channel, and Facebook page.

Here is a background on each of this year’s panellists:

Mike de Kock

Mike de Kock is a four-time winning trainer of the Vodacom Durban July and holds the record for the most Grade 1 wins by a trainer with 129. De Kock’s four victories came with Ipi Tombe (2002), Greys Inn (2004), Bold Silvano (2010) and Igugu (2011).

Justin Snaith

Justin Snaith will aim to become the first trainer in history to train four consecutive Vodacom Durban July winners. The Cape trainer saddles five runners in this year’s edition of the Vodacom Durban July, including 2018 and 2019 winner Do It Again, as well as the defending champion from 2020 Belgarion. Snaith trained his first VDJ winner with Dancer’s Daughter in 2008, and followed that up with Legislate in 2014. A sixth victory here would tie him with trainer Terence Millard for the second most VDJ victories.

Richard Fourie

Richard Fourie will aim to become the first jockey in Vodacom Durban July history to win this race on three consecutive occasions. He returns to ride two-time winner Do It Again, who he rode to victory in 2019. He enters this race as defending champion after guiding Belgarion to victory in 2020. Fourie’s first victory came in 2014 on Legislate.

Kevin Shea

Kevin Shea is a two-time winner of the Vodacom Durban July, having ridden Ipi Tombe to victory in 2002, and Dancer’s Daughter dead heat with Pocket Power in 2008. A multiple Grade 1 winner whose career’s spanned 37 years, Shea officially retired from the saddle in 2015.

Alistair Cohen

Alistair Cohen is a prominent South African horse racing commentator who has been calling races for the last 11 years and is also a presenter on TellyTrack. He has become a regular caller for the Grade 1 Gauteng Summer Cup.
