Race 4.

MISS POWERBELLE is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has her hat-trick run after victories over 900M and the latest over 950M by 1.2L. She came three wide into the home straight that day, but finished strongly to win going away and the form of that race has been franked. She does return from a 30 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest to showcase her well-being. She will have to negotiate draw eight, but she should give the males a good run for their money.

Although MALAHAT is recorded as finishing fifth in his latest outing over 900M, he was only two and a half lengths back from the winner. He stayed on well that day and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. His gate five will do him no harm.

LORD TONY has cracked pole position and has his first run since a shorter 13 week rest. He has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but he followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a fourth place finish next time out over the same trip, four lengths behind the winner and should be included in all bets.

Race 5.

The day’s best bet, FREEDOM SQUARE attracted plenty of betting support when finishing third last time out over 1300M, a half length behind the winner. He made good late progress in that race suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He faces a wide draw eleven, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the frontrunners over the closing stages.

WITHOUT SHAME overraced in the middle stages and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight before ending up in eighth place last time out over 1500N, 2.3L back from the victor. That was however at a stronger center and from gate six, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

CAPITAL VENTURE won his penultimate start over seven furlongs and then finished third next time out when stepping up to a mile, just over a half length behind the winner. He took a bump entering the home stretch in that contest and from draw two, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

DEEP MIRROR is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with a one and a half length victory last time out over seven furlongs. She struck the front at the 150M mark and despite shifting out and being bumped at the 100M pole, she hung on well for a courageous win. She will have to overcome a wide gate seventeen, but nevertheless, she is taken to be the value bet on the day’s program.

CIRCULARITY kicked clear at the 200M mark and then fought off the chasing pack to record his maiden victory last time out over six furlongs, by almost three lengths. He takes on stronger here, but from his far kinder draw five, he should be right up there in the firing line.

CHARLIE’S LAW is seldom far off the action having finished third in his last three races and tried to go from jump to wire before ending up just over two lengths behind the winner in his latest outing over 1500M. He is sure to put his pole position to good use.

Race 7.

ANG POW is two out of two, having won over six furlongs on debut and then again over the same trip last time out by just over two and a half lengths. He finished strongly to claim top spot that day and although stuck out wide in gate twelve, he should be doing his best work late and prove to be good enough to complete his trifecta of victories.

FOXSTORM had finished second in his three runs prior to being a tad disappointing when sixth in his latest outing over six furlongs, 5.6L adrift of the victor. He gets the blinkers refitted for todays run and if these have the desired effect and from a kinder gate four, he should be considered a big runner in this line-up.

RAOUL had finished second, third and third again before winning his maiden race by 1.3L. last time out over 1100M. The gelding was returning from a 25 week absence that day and as he is drawn one outside the latter, he too should be right up there in the firing line.
