Race 5.

There are four unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, two 3yr fillies could fight out the finish and complete the exacta, with the slight preference going to THE GLOBE, who showed marked improvement to finish third last time out over five furlongs, 0.7L behind the winner, despite being hampered at the start. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She was returning from a 33 week break that day and has also won a subsequent barrier trial to boost her claim for top spot. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but should be doing her best work late.

CALIFORNIASILENCER has only had the two runs to date and has finished second in both, the latest over five furlongs, 2.3L back from the winner. She made good late progress that day and the form of that race has been franked. She too faces a wide gate, in her case draw eleven, but she should be right up there when they hit the line.

RICK’S MANIA makes his debut after winning both of his barrier trials. He could be the best of the unraced entrants, jumping from a kinder draw six.

Race 6.

As with the previous race, the finish to this race could be dominated by fillies, in this case a 4yr old and a 3yr, but the day’s value bet, PERLANT gets the nod for top honors. She has consistent formlines to her name and was bumped down at the start before staying on well to end up in fourth place last time out over this c&d, one and a half lengths back from the winner. The form of that race has been franked and although she faces a wideish draw nine, she should turn in another honest performance today.

HUZZAH hung out over the latter stages before going on to win a short-head on debut over five furlongs and could be almost anything. She is drawn in gate seven and takes on stronger here, but she would have learnt from the experience and could be up to the task at hand.

LAMBDOMA ENERGY is drawn one inside the latter and had his consistency rewarded with a 2.3L win over five furlongs last time out, despite being held up at the entrance to the home straight and only seeing daylight at the 300M mark. He finished off his race well and is likely to record another solid effort here.

Race 7.

BUDHWAR missed out on his hat-trick when finishing sixth last time out over 1300M, just over a length behind the winner, but he overraced in the middle stages and had to be held up between the 350M and 150M poles that day and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. He gets a handy draw five and has his peak run after returning from a 12 week rest.

AMERICAN SALUTE is seldom far off the action and kicked clear at the 150M mark before being run out of it late when finishing second in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 1.8L adrift of the victor. He will have to deal with a wideish draw nine, but should deliver another solid effort in this line-up.

TINKA’S LAD has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when sixth over 1300M, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. He had to be steadied off the heels of other runners in that contest and only secured a clear run at the 100M mark. He faces an even wider draw twelve, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8.

The day’s best bet, FINE RUBY has cracked pole position and had solid form before being somewhat disappointing when stepping up to 2300M last time out, finishing eleven lengths behind the winner, but he was slow away and then struck the heels of other runners at the 1800M mark and took no interest from that point, so that effort is best ignored. He won over a mile three runs back and should bounce back to form dropping to what appears to be a more suitable distance.

AMORE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she followed up her maiden victory in her penultimate start over a mile with a sixth spot finish next time out over nine furlongs, 8.2L adrift of the winner. It should however be noted that she pulled hard in the early and middle stages of that race and understandably had nothing to offer in the run down to the wire. She jumps from a cozy draw four and should give the males a good run for their money.

TOBERMORY ran on well from some way back before ending up in seventh place last time out over 1300M, seven and a half lengths behind the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He is drawn two and will get the services of ex-SA jockey Glynn Schofield, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
