Race 4

DAYSAN goes for his hat-trick after victories over ten furlongs and the latest over 2300M by 1.3L. He finished strongly that day and, on that effort, he seems likely to relish the slightly longer journey today. He gets draw six and looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

CHAINS OF HONOUR showed marked improvement when attempting to go from jump to wire before ending up in second place last time out over twelve furlongs, 1.3L back from the winner. The form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has cracked pole position and has his first run for his new trainer. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

DEADLY IMPACT is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing fifth in his last outing over twelve furlongs, he was just three lengths adrift of the victor. He also likes to race from the front and did shift out over the closing 200M of that last run, but from one gate outside the latter, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5

The day’s best bet, PROMISE OF SUCCESS is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a one-length win last time out over 1300M when returning from a 10-week rest. She finished powerfully to record a well-timed victory, suggesting that she will be even better over today’s trip. She has a handy draw five and could prove difficult to topple here.

HEAD LEGISLATOR had finished second in his last three starts prior to winning his maiden race by one and a half lengths in his latest outing when stepping up to 1300M. He jumped awkwardly but recovered well to make good late progress over the latter stages to win going away. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

DARLEB has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over this c&d, two and a half lengths off the winner, this despite coming four wide into the home straight. He was friendless in the betting markets that day, but did finish well from some way off the pace. He jumps from gate three and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

ANOTHER ONE has consistent formlines to his name and battled all the way down to the wire when finishing third last time out over six furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner. He was returning from a 19-week absence that day and has had a subsequent barrier trial, where he finished second. He has a wideish draw eight, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. As such, he is made the value bet on the day’s card.

BLESK was bumped at the start and found himself at the back of the field before running on well to end up in fourth spot last time out over a mile, four lengths back from the winner and was immediately rested for 20 weeks. The form of that race has however works out well with four runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but he should be doing his best work late.

FOX FIGHTER has won two of his last three runs and finished second in the other, the latest a victory over 1100M by a half-length. He came four-wide into the home stretch that day, but hit the front at the 200M mark and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the winning post. He starts from draw seven and hails from the stable of ex-SA jockey/trainer David Payne.

Race 7

ITA is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she completed her hat-trick when winning her last start over 1500M, albeit by just a head. She kicked clear at the 250M pole that day and then bravely held on for the victory. She jumps from stall gate five and the quartet of wins is very much on the cards.

JOJO WAS A MAN jumped awkwardly but recovered quickly to take the lead and then repel all latecomers in the dash down to the wire to hold on for a 0.8L victory, this over the 1500M. The form of that race has been franked and from draw seven, he should keep the top pick honest.

KINGSHEIR had solid form before being slightly disappointing in his last start over 1500M, finishing seventh, six lengths behind the winner, but he did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day and also hung out over the latter stages. He has pulled gate three and gets the services of ex-SA jockey Glynn Schofield, so he will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
