Race 5.

The day’s best bet, WARDADDY put 4.3L between himself and the opposition when making his debut over five furlongs and could be just about anything. He jumped awkwardly, but recovered well to show plenty of speed before holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. He returns from a 16 week rest, but did win his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being and he would have learnt from that first experience and should have plenty of natural improvement to come. He jumps from draw six and could prove good enough to secure his double here.

MR POINTER followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish over the same trip, 1.3L behind the winner when returning from a 22 week rest. He stayed on well that day and from his handy draw two, he could be the biggest danger to the top choice.

LUCKY SHAM is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. She disappointed when finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, eleven lengths adrift of the winner, but that was on a synthetic surface and she was also reported to be lame, so that effort should be ignored. She has her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.

Race 6.

With the late scratching of one of his main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s value bet DALGARNO to chalk up his second career victory. He won his penultimate start over 1300M and then although seventh next time out over seven furlongs, he was just two and a half lengths behind the winner. He was making good late progress that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He faces a wide gate twelve, but he should be doing his best work late.

POSEIDON RULER has consistent formlines to his name and finished a head second last time out over seven furlongs, this despite coming six wide into the home straight. He has not fared much better with his draw, getting gate ten, but he seems likely to turn in another honest performance today.

AUVERGNE is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she is another who won her penultimate start, in her case over 1500M and then ended up in third place next time out over a mile, five lengths off the winner. She raced up with the leaders that day and should enjoy the drop in distance of today’s event. She is drawn between the top two selections and should keep them both honest.

Race 7.

IMPACT STAR overraced in the middle stages and understandably had nothing to offer in the run down to the wire when disappointing last time out over seven furlongs, five and a half lengths back from the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He gets draw nine and returns from a 20 week rest, but has had the one barrier trial where he finished second. If settling better today, he looks to be the one to side with here.

DAWNTILLARVI is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she had finished second twice in a row before ending up in fifth spot last time out over five furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner when returning from a 23 week absence. From her kinder draw two, she should give the males a good run for their money.

CAPANNELLO had gone one better, having finished second in his three outings before ending up in tenth place last time out over five furlongs, just under five and a half lengths behind them winner, but it should be noted that he had to be held up approaching the home turn that day and then did not get the clearest of passages in the run down to the wire. He jumps from gate five and should be included in all bets.

Race 8.

BLACK JACAMAR is a 4yr old filly bumping males, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L back from the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire in that race, but took an awkward stride at the 100M mark, which clearly affected her chances. She has pulled gate five and will get the blinkers removed for the first time. If suited to the lack of headgear, she could prove difficult to beat in this line-up.

SCHILLER BAY is drawn one outside the top pick and raced just behind the leaders when making solid improvement to win by 2.3L last time out over 1100M. He hit the front at the 200M pole and then fought off the chasing pack over the closing stages of the contest.

CLEARLY REGAL has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when fourth over five furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner when returning from a 12 week rest. He did come three wide into the stretch, but finished off his race powerfully. His cozy gate three will do him no harm.
