Race 5

QIJI BELLEZZA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has made steady improvement in her last three runs, the latest when finishing second over 1300M, beaten just a short-head. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she has her peak outing here and will have ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. As such, she is taken to be the value bet on the card. LE HEROS made marked improvement to finish second in his last start over five furlongs, just a length behind the winner, this despite jumping awkwardly and shifting about in the home straight. He is drawn one inside the top choice and could be his biggest danger. COME IN SPINNER raced up with the leaders before ending up in third place last time out over a mile, a half length adrift of the victor. He has a wide draw fifteen to deal with, but should use his early gate speed to tack across without expending too much energy.

Race 6
Two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race, both with ex-SA jockeys in the saddle, but the clear top pick, today’s best bet, LOT’S WIFE is taken to give Robbie Fradd a quick double. She followed up her penultimate run victory over this distance when returning from a 30 week absence, with a fifth place finish last time out over 1300M, 2.7L behind the winner. She raced three wide that day, but the form of that race as been franked. She has cracked pole position which will aid her cause. MITTA MARY is the mount of Sean Cormack who was aboard when she had her consistency rewarded with a nearly two and a half win last time out over a mile. She went from jump to wire to record that last victory and from gate eight here, she is likely to use the same tactics today. EMMA’S JET finished strongly to win his last start over six furlongs by half a length. He is draw one outside the latter and has his peak run here. On that last effort, he is likely to appreciate the extra ground on offer here and he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

VERANES is a 5yr old mare taking on males. She won her penultimate outing over six furlongs and then although recorded as finishing ninth next time out over the same distance, she was just over three and a half lengths back from the winner. She is drawn in gate seven and the form of that race has stood up well, so she should be right up there when they hit the line. KING OF THE DESERT followed up on two third place finishes with a second place last time out over this trip, just a short-head behind the winner. He stayed on well that day and from one gate outside the former, he should turn in another honest performance in this line-up. ADORADANCER is a 6yr old mare who was slightly disappointing when finishing seventh last time out over five furlongs, but she was reported as being distressed after that race and the effort is best ignored. On her previous form, she should be a big runner here.

Race 8

RETURN WITH HONOUR has finished second in his last two outings, the latest over this six furlong sprint, just over two lengths back from the winner. He gets gate six, but he is a speedy sort who will be looking to keep rolling over the latter stages to record his second career victory. GAELIC PUZZLE is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she put nearly three lengths between herself and the opposition to win her maiden race last time out over this trip. She takes on stronger here, but gets a handy draw two and could prove good enough to follow up here to record her double. WOLF MOON won by nearly three and a half lengths when making his debut over this distance and was immediately rested for 34 weeks. He returns here after winning his only barrier trial to prove his well-being and could be almost anything. He jumps from draw four and should be included in all bets.
