Race 4.

The day’s best bet, THIS’LLBETHEONE has won both of his first two starts, the first over seven furlongs and then the next by a head when stepping up to 1500M and could be just about anything. The form of that race has been franked and although drawn wide in gate ten, he could prove difficult to topple in this line-up. Two 4yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to AL SAHARA who had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory by 2.8L last time out over a mile, despite coming four wide into the home straight. She is drawn one inside the top choice and whilst taking on stronger, she may well be up to the task at hand. OBVIOUS STEP has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three runs, the latest when fourth over 1500M, 1.8L back from the winner. She came the widest of them all into the home straight that day, but battled all the way down to the wire. She is trained by ex-SA jockey/trainer David Payne and gets a kinder draw five and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

Race 5.

VIENNOISERIE finished strongly to win by a length first time out over 1100M, notwithstanding coming four wide into the home stretch and the form of that race has been franked. She will have to negotiate gate ten, but given her style of racing, she should be doing her best work late. HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP is drawn one inside the former, but is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just under a half length behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered well to lead the field into the home straight before bursting clear of the opposition at the 200M mark, only to be collared in the shadow of the post. TILLOTSON showed plenty of toe when winning her latest outing over 1100M by 0.8L. That was her maiden victory and she does take on stronger here and faces the widest draw of them all in gate twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 6.

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top pick goes to RULE OF LAW who was hampered in the latter stages before ending up in seventh place last time out over six furlongs, just over five lengths adrift of the victor and was immediately rested for 40 weeks. He returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. The fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them and from a handy draw four and with 2kgs being removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice, he may well reward their patience. WALKIN’TALKIN’ followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a second-place finish last time out over 1300M, just under a half-length back from the winner. He returns from a shorter 22-week rest, but did win his only barrier trial and is a speedy sort who was only run out of it very late in that last contest. He will have to overcome a wide draw twelve, but is likely to use his speed to shift across without consuming too much strength. BOMBDIGGITY showed marked improvement to win his last outing over five furlongs by 0.8L when returning from a 26-week break. The gelding showed considerable determination to hold off all challengers that day and from a cozy draw five and with 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7.

Three 3yr old fillies could dominate the finish to this race and secure the trifecta, but COMRADE ROSA is taken to lead them home. She won over six furlongs on debut and then finished third next time out over the same trip, 2.3L behind the winner. She was a bit out of her ground turning for home that day, but was making good late progress over the closing stages of the race. She will have to deal with a wide gate eleven, but she should be right up there when they hit the line. SWEET RUBY finished second in her penultimate start over six furlongs and then followed that up with a head win over the same distance next time out. She stayed on well that day and the form of the contest has been franked. She jumps from draw seven and the double is very much on the cards. HONEYCREEPER has consistent formlines to her name, having finished third in her latest outing over seven furlongs, just over a length off the victor. She has her first run since returning from a 19 week rest, but has had the two barrier trials, winning the latest. She gets gate two and seems likely to turn in another honest performance today.
