Race 4

SUBSCRIBE ME stayed on well when finishing fourth last time out over 2100M, 4.2L behind the winner. He has cracked pole position and will be hoping to chalk up his second career win today.

PICCAPEPPA has consistent formlines to his name finishing second last time out over 1900M, 1.8L back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding faces a wide draw ten, but he will be hoping to go one better here.

BILL PEYTO delivered a powerful finish from some way back to win his last start over a mile by a length. He will have to negotiate a wideish draw eight, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

HALLOWED STAR turned the widest of them all into the home straight, but finished off his race strongly to end in third spot last time out over seven furlongs, just a neck off the winner. He gets a set of blinkers re-fitted and if this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

SHEN GUI won over seven furlongs three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over the same journey and then tenth in his latest outing over the same trip, 5.3L behind the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. Whilst drawn wide in gate eleven, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.

HERNE HILL was slow away, but battled all the way down to the wire when finishing sixth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, just under three and a half lengths adrift of the victor. The form of that race has been franked and although drawn wideish in gate eight, he will be having his peak run after returning from an 18-week break.

Race 6

VILLA TREVILLE is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she has won three of her last four starts and goes for her hat-trick after two victories over five furlongs, the latest by a head. She returns from a lengthy 41-week spell, but did finish second in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. The filly jumps from gate six and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

SPARKINGLY overraced in the early and middle stages and was held up approaching the home turn when finishing third last time out over five furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner, so he had his excuses. The gelding has pulled a useful gate three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

GERETY is a 3-year-old filly who followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fifth-place finish next time out over the same c&d, three and a half lengths back from the winner. She jumped awkwardly in that contest, but recovered quickly to race just off the pace, before staying on well over the closing stages. She has her first run after an 18-week rest, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and second in the latest. The filly will have to deal with a wideish draw eight, but she should not be lightly ignored.

Race 7

SCHOLL DEEP is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she was seldom far off the action before finishing a tad disappointing fourth last time out over 1250M, 4.2L back from the winner, but it should be noted that she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, so that effort is best ignored. She gets a cosy draw three and could give jockey Aaron Bullock the first and last leg of the day’s Jackpot, should the top pick win the first leg. As such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

WATER LAD won his penultimate start over 1100M and then finished fourth over the same sprint trip last time out, just under two and a half lengths back from the victor, but he ran on well over the latter stages on that occasion, this after coming the widest of them all into the home stretch. The gelding is drawn in gate seven and gets the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

PISA CAKE is another 3-year-old filly in the race, but she has only had two runs to date, winning on debut over six furlongs and then finishing fifth next time out when stepping up to 1300M, 1.3L behind the winner. She raced just behind the leaders that day and did not quite go on with her effort, suggesting that the drop in trip would be to her liking. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be involved in the finish.
