Race 5.

MISS KONO is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a second place finish next time out over the same trip, two lengths behind the winner. She finished strongly that day despite having to weave her way through traffic in the home straight and the form of that race has been franked. Her draw four will do her no harm. GENKIDES has only had the four runs to date and won his maiden race last time out over 1100M by nearly two lengths. He was still green that day, but he would have learnt further with the outing and from his pole position, he could be the biggest danger to the top choice. WINSIDE is another 3yr old filly in the contest. She won by two and a half lengths over five furlongs on debut and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners from that contest winner since then. She returns from a 20 week rest, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial, which she won. From draw six, she should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

A 4yr old filly and two 5yr old mares could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s best bet, IF YOU THINK SO is taken to lead them home. She finished second her last start over 1900M, just under a length behind the winner, but did win her penultimate outing over 1500M by four and a half lengths, so the drop in distance should not be an issue. She attempted to go from jump to wire that day and given this style of racing, she should use that early gate speed to move across from her draw nine without expending too much energy. MABEL JOSEPHINE is seldom far off the action and won her penultimate start over seven furlongs and then stayed on well to end up in third place next time out over 1500M, one and a half lengths adrift of the winner. She has pulled gate six and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick. RENALOT has an even better gate one and is another who won her penultimate outing over seven furlongs. She then finished sixth in her next start over 1500M, just over three lengths back from the victor when not getting the clearest of passages in the straight. She should be involved in the finish here.

Race 7.

Today’s value bet, PROVIDE is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she was the leader into the straight and then burst away from the pack at the 300M mark to hold on to win her last start over seven furlongs by a half length. She has a handy draw four and retains the serves of ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham, which is a plus. She could prove good enough to chalk up a quick double here. SUBTLE GREY has finished second in his last two outings, the latest over seven furlongs by three and a half lengths when returning from a lengthy 79 weeks absence. His condition just gave out over the latter stages of that race and although drawn wide in gate ten, he would have come on with the run under his belt and should keep the top selection honest. COOL WORLD has solid formlines to his credit and was making good late progress when finishing third in his last run over six furlongs, one and a half lengths off the victor. The form of that race has subsequently been franked and from draw six he should not be easily overlooked in this line-up.

Race 8.

Not too unlike race six, two fillies and a mare could dominate the finish to this race and secure the trifecta. HELLO SUNSHINE is the 4yr old mare who put seven lengths between herself and the opposition when winning her last start over six furlongs. She was returning from a 12 week rest that day and will jump from gate two. In addition to her cozy draw, she will have 1.5kgs removed from her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause. IMPRESSIVE LASS had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over six furlongs by two lengths. She will have to negotiate draw ten out of thirteen and takes on stronger here, but she may well prove to be up to the task at hand. HASTY DUCHESS won her penultimate outing over six furlongs and then finished second by a head next time out when stepping up to seven furlongs. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and although returning from an 18 week break today, she has had the two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest to prove her well-being. She jumps from gate seven and should turn in another solid performance today.
