Race 5
BELLARINA MAGIC is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has finished third in her last two starts over this c&d, the latest when just under a length and a half behind the winner. She was making good late progress that day and did finish a head in front of FULL OF FIRE, who had attempted to go from jump to wire. The two are drawn in gates two and three respectively and as they meet on the same weight terms here, there should not be too much separating the pair when they hit the line. THERESABEARINTHERE finished sixth in his last start over five furlongs, just over three and a half lengths back from the winner when returning from a 19 week break, but he was bumped down at the start that day and the form of that race has been franked. From draw five, he should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.
Race 6
ERWIN has only had the one run, finishing a short-head second on debut over five furlongs. He attracted plenty of betting support that day, suggesting that he had been showing good work at home. He looked a winner close to home, only to be run out of it in the shadow of the post. Needless to say, he would have come on with the run under his belt and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. BUBBLER showed solid improvement when finishing strongly to end up third in his last outing over six furlongs at this track, just 0.8L behind the winner. He has his peak run here after returning from a lengthy 40 week absence and will have to negotiate the widest draw of them all in gate thirteen, but he is likely to be dropped out of the race in the early stages and should be picking off the front runner in the latter stages of the contest. ZELBERG is a 4yr filly taking on males, but she also made good improvement when stepping up to six furlongs to finish fourth last time out, just under two lengths adrift of the victor. She jumps from gate six and should be involved in the finish.
Race 7
WILLY WHITE SOCKS and DEFY renew their rivalry today after the former finish 1.1L in front of the latter in their last clash over this c&d. WILLY WHITE SOCKS was friendless in the betting markets that day, but nevertheless battled all the was down to the wire. He has cracked pole position and is the marginal top choice and value bet on the program. DEFY has a handy draw four and faces the top pick on 0.5kgs better terms today, but whilst that should bring him closer to the top pick, he may well have to settle for the same result. Although BOOGIE WOOGIE is recorded as finishing sixth in his latest outing over a mile, he was just over two lengths back from the winner, this despite not getting the clearest of passages in the home straight. He has a wideish gate nine, but with better luck in running today, he should be right up there in the mix.
Race 8
ONS VIER is a 7yr old mare taking on boys, but she looked like she won her last start over today’s distance with a bit in hand, putting two lengths between herself and the opposition. She gets draw five and could prove good enough to complete her double here. CHIPSAREDOWN stayed on well when finishing third last time out over six furlongs, just a neck adrift of the winner. He steps up in distance here, but on that last effort, this should not be an issue. His draw two will do him no harm. SCOUT is seldom far off the action and ended up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs at this track, just over a length and a half behind the winner. He was forced to race four wide that day and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and he should be included in all bets.
