Race 6

MORENO missed out on his hat-trick when stepping up to six furlongs last time out, but was only beaten a head. He battled all the way from the top of the straight with the eventual winner, only to be beaten by the bob of the nose at the wire. He is sure to appreciate the drop in distance and from his handy draw four, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. BEST GUESS has consistent formlines to his name having won three of his last five starts, the latest over six furlongs by two lengths. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate eight but could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. OUTBACK WARRIOR was a bit disappointing when finishing tenth in his last outing over this trip, 7.1L behind the winner, but the form of that race has been franked and from draw five, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

BOLD HUNTER followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a second-place finish next time out over five furlongs, just over four and a half lengths behind the winner. He was trapped three-wide that day but was making good late progress over the latter stages of the contest. He has cracked pole position and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here. SANGLIER showed marked improvement when finishing well to end up in third place last time out over 1100M, just over a length adrift of the victor when returning from a 16-week break. He is drawn the widest in gate nine, but given his style of running, he is likely to be dropped out of it early and start picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages. BANTU BAY returns from a 19-week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He spread a shoe when finishing fourth in his latest outing over six furlongs, ten and a half lengths off the winner, and that effort is best ignored. He is drawn one inside the latter and should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 8

CAVELLTON has finished second in his last two runs, the latest when just under a length behind the winner over seven furlongs. He did not get the clearest of passages down the home straight that day and should have finished closer to the winner than he did. Jumping from draw five and with better luck in running today, he should be right up there when they hit the line. GYPSY BIKER won his penultimate start over this c&d by half a length and the finished up in third place next time out over seven furlongs at this venue, 2.1L back from the winner. He came three-wide into the straight in that run, so did well to finish as close to the winner as he did and the drop in distance should be to his liking. He will have to negotiate a wide draw 10, but he should be doing his best work late. FINUCANE MISSILE has his first run since a 16 weeks break, but did finish third in his only barrier trial to prove his well-being. He won his last start over seven furlongs before his rest, when putting over three lengths between himself and the opposition. Five runners from that race have subsequently won a race and from gate four, he should be included in all bets.

Race 9

CENTAUR had his consistency rewarded with a nearly two and a half-length win last time out over 1500M. He has pulled pole position and he should put in another honest performance today. As such, he is made the value bet on the program. CONQUERING JUDAS made solid improvement when ending up fifth in his last start over 1300M, just a length adrift of the victor, this despite being hampered in the closing stages. But for that interference, he should just about have won that contest. He faces gate nine out of thirteen, but nevertheless, he could be the one to pick up the victory should the top pick fluff his lines. LASTOFTHEMOHICANS won over 1300M at this venue in his penultimate outing and then came five wide into the straight before finishing eighth next time out over a mile, three lengths behind the winner. He is lightly raced, having only had the five starts to date and from his handy draw three, he should be right up there in the firing line.
