The brilliant SNOWDANCE deserved the 14 week absence after her flawless Cape summer campaign which culminated with back-to-back Grade 1 victories over this trip and she will be a ‘favourite’ during this winter campaign in KZN.
Her conditioner’s horses have tended to need an outing since arriving in this province and though there are noticeable other concerns (first time around the right hand turn & under the lights), the daughter of Captain Al has all the class to make a winning local debut.
Her arch-rival is the top quality local LADY IN BLACK who showed all of her determination to narrowly defeat TWICE AS SMART (6kgs worse off) on her return to this province. Admittedly, she wasn’t fully tuned-up that day and though she was easily beaten twice by SNOWDANCE in the ‘Mother City’, things could be much different on home soil now.
Interestingly, the Drier inmate is yet to taste defeat in KZN, including a Grade 1 victory as a juvenile.
The likely dictator ELUSIVE HEART will also strip fitter after she perhaps needed her local debut behind LADY IN BLACK and a place is the best she can hope for.
ROY’S RIVIERA is another classy sort who can earn minor money.

The Capetonians are again extremely well-represented in this Grade 2 contest but a likely lack of pace makes things really interesting.
WHITE RIVER had an eye-catching local debut behind stable companion Undercover Agent (runs in race 5) on this course last month and he will strip fitter tonight. His classy performance behind TAP O’ NOTH in the Cape Guineas in the summer remains the highlight of his career and the quality son of Trippi could adopt frontrunning tactics with blinkers fitted, coupled with the engagement of top jockey Marcus.
TAP O’ NOTH’s flop in the Derby was probably due to a suspected virus in the yard but he proved his worth prior to that and he won’t mind a likely sedate gallop on local debut.
The brilliant OH SUSANNA hasn’t raced for 14 weeks since her finest triumph in the Met and all eyes will be firmly focused on her tonight. As mentioned with her stablemate Snowdance in the prior event, there are obvious reservations on her local debut but the Snaith inmate deserves huge respect nonetheless.
WONDERWALL is a Gauteng raider with obvious potential and this race could be run to suit him, particularly on this short run-in, bearing in mind that he seems to prefer shorter.
