MAGIC TIPS Preview and Predicted Finish
The downgrading of the country’s premier staying event hasn’t diminished the interest from the major yard’s and almost all of the top stayers are represented in this field. That said, most of the older guard have had their fair share of chances and the younger three-year-old generation could make merry.
CAPE SPEED has been exceptional in this province and the Ideal World gelding continues to blossom. He was returning from a break when he just lasted to capture the Derby over 2400m at Scottsville last time and will definitely strip fitter. The bay gelding gives every indication that he will handle this marathon trip and he is undoubtedly on the up. The Kannemeyer inmate should be up to his acid test here and can give this red-hot jockey back-to-back wins in this event.
ENAAD has peaked at the right time and he was given a brilliant ride when he split his stablemate’s SMART MART (0.5kg better off) & KINGSTON MINES (1kg better off) to win the Gold Vase over 3000m on July Day. The latter pairing won’t have the run of the race today and the son of High Chaparral can confirm the form with Khumalo retaining the ride. He receives 2kgs from the top rating.
