The Grade 1 feature on Champions Day at Greyville is the R1 million Mike and Carol Bass Champions Cup, which takes place over 1800m. The race is aptly named after trainer Mike Bass who will be retiring at the end of the season, and handing over the reigns to his daughter Candice Robinson. Bass’s gelding MARINARESCO enters as the odds-on favourite, and will look to bring the curtain down on what has been a sterling career for the Cape trainer.
