Marco van Rensburg takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

FORTY DAYS just won his last start over 1300m on this course. He moved up well that day and just held on where it matters most. He takes a slight drop in class today and from pole position, can notch up the double.

VAR’S BOY is the best bet on the card. He has been ultra-impressive in his last two victories. He cast a shoe in running last time which makes the win that much more encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a rise in class, but still may be ahead of the handicapper and should notch up the hat-trick.

KISS OF LIFE won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over this C&D. The daughter of Coup De Grace makes her stable debut for the Tara Laing yard today. She takes on stronger, but she looks to have ability and may be up to the task at hand.

OKAVANGO DELTA is the value bet on today’s card. He finished 3.25 lengths behind NORFOLK PINE last time and is 8kgs better off at the weights today. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. From his good draw of three, he may be the one to beat.
