Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 5: PHIL’S POWER (2)

Jockey: Habib C – Trainer: Miller W G C

PHIL’S POWER
was an impressive winner of his last start over this C&D. He took the lead at the 400m mark that day and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but should use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 6: REEF KNOT (2)

Jockey: V.Rensburg M – Trainer: Smith G D

REEF KNOT was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1900m on this course. She is unbeaten from two starts on this course. The daughter of Elusive Fort should have no issues with the extra distance on offer. She does not meet the strongest field and should take a power of beating.

Race 7: EARTH HOUR (2)

Jockey: Mxothwa L – Trainer: Nel J

EARTH HOUR caught the eye when running on from last in the first leg of the East Cape Poly Challenge. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of two, he can get back to winning ways.

Race 9: RIMINI (1)

Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A

RIMINI ran a decent race in her local debut over 1200m on the turf. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of Silvano takes a slight drop in class and if suited to the surface, she should be the one to beat.

Race 4: QUICK WIT (3)

Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: McKenzie D

QUICK WIT was given an interesting ride when making her local debut over 1300m on this course. Her form prior to that in Gauteng was decent. She will enjoy the step up to the mile and should strip a much fitter horse. She is likely to race up with the pace and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
