Race 5: CAPE REBEL(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: STORYFIELDS(11)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Corne SPIES

STORYFIELDS
is a long-time maiden but with solid credentials and she is a major contender in this opening event. The daughter of Atso is ideally c & d suited, having finished well for a close 4th in a novice event in her penultimate outing. She followed that up with another close effort on this surface at today’s level last Friday. The chestnut filly usually runs on strong so her wide draw may not hamp- er her chances.

Race 3: ASPEN FIRE(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Duncan MCKENZIE

ASPEN FIRE
continues to hold her form extremely well and she could prove tough to beat today, if she handles this trip. She was beaten just over five lengths in her only try over ten furlongs whilst resident in the Cape but the daughter of Go Deputy is stronger now and she can pull this off.

Race 6: LA REBEL(1)

Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

LA REBEL
is in decent form and she is overdue her second career victory. She is best weighted on official ratings in this novice contest and the bay filly drops in class after she stayed on well for a close 3rd, five weeks ago. The daughter of Rebel King jumps from a good draw.

Race 8: SWEETCHILD O MIN(2)

Jockey: Stallone NAIDOO – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

This is an extremely competitive low-key handicap to end the day’s proceedings but the value could lie with the four-year old filly SWEETCHILD O MINE from the Yvette Bremner yard. This daughter of Greys Inn has faced considerably stronger since relocating to this province. She should have finished even closer but found traffic problems over this c & d two weeks ago. The runner-up Black Jade fluffed her lines subsequently but perhaps raced too soon whilst this bay filly has her peak showing. She jumps from a much better draw and can bounce back to her best form.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 4: GIFT OF GOLD(8)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

GIFT OF GOLD is a track specialist who thrives in these low-key handicaps and she has been thereabouts in her last three outings. The chestnut mare finished strongly for 2nd behind the well-ridden CONQUER- ING QUEEN over this c & d on the first day of August but she meets her conqueror on 2.5kgs better terms. Furthermore, she wasn’t disgraced when equipped with blinkers in her two subsequent mile runs on this track and will again have the headgear. She can cause the upset from another fair draw. The latter had excuses when she perhaps found the trip in her last start too far for her. She had solid form prior to that, particularly after changing her tactics and she can still feature in this field.
