Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: BOLD COAST(5)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Stanley FERREIRA

BOLD COAST made a bright debut over this trip at the Vaal recently and he should make natural improvement today. He ran on smartly for 2nd in a competitive line-up and would have come on appreciably from the experience. The Bold Silvano colt is well drawn on his track debut and he should be involved in the finish.

Top Bet
Race 4: FISH RIVER CANYON(9)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

The three-year-old FISH RIVER CANYON has shown promise in her three runs thus far but she did too much when trying this tight circuit and the bend for the first time recently. She managed a weak 2nd that day but that experience would have brought her on and the daughter of Mullins Bay still has plenty more to offer. The step-up to the mile should be right up her alley and she can go one better despite her awkward draw.

Race 5:TRIP TO TROY(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

TRIP TO TROY put his poor post maiden run behind him as he produced two improved subsequent efforts, including a cracking 3rd over an extra furlong on this course in late July. The Trippi gelding raced wide in a stronger field that day but finished strongly to be close-up and quite remarkably, he didn’t incur a penalty. The Geoff Woodruff inmate shed his maiden tag with ease over this c & d on the last day of March and he can get back to winning ways from his good draw today.

Race 7: INTERGALACTIC(11)

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Sean TARRY

There are some very classy performers in the day’s topliner, a conditions event over 1450m and an exciting finish is on the cards. The best-weighted runner is the four-year-old filly INTERGALACTIC from the Sean Tarry yard. This daughter of Kahal produced some top quality performances last season, including running on well for 4th in a Grade 1 over a mile at Greyville in her penultimate run. She fluffed her lines over ten furlongs subsequently but deserved the short break and could be a major contender during the summer. She has a decent c & d record and can make a winning seasonal debut with just 52kgs on her back. She jumps from gate 2.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 6: MODJADJI(7)
Jockey: Akshay BALLOO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The Sean Tarry yard holds a decent hand in this low-key fillies and mares handicap and the lesser fancied MODJADJI can cause the upset. The daughter of Rebel King, like many of today’s rivals, represents the LADIES CLUB (7kgs worse off) c & d formline on 27/08. This bay filly continues to slide in the merit ratings and she could enjoy the run of the race here, having only tired late with frontrunning tactics over further, two weeks ago. She has another good draw to help her cause and a 2.5kgs claiming apprentice is engaged.
