Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: LORD WINDERMERE(7)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

LORD WINDERMERE
made the expected improvement when he ran on smartly for a good 3rd in his comeback run over today’s c & d, two weeks ago. That was a commendable effort considering he had some excuses and the Greeff inmate will strip fitter. He takes on weaker rivals here and should go very close from a fair draw.

Race 2: STAR BURST GALAX(12)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

This is a tricky novice contest where the best-rated runner makes her local and polytrack debut so she will be severely tested. The daughter of Var, STAR BURST GALAXY, is the one spoken of above and this three-year-old filly has surprisingly relocated to this province after showing some promise as a juvenile. She had fair form behind a few top sorts and the formline of her latest effort has worked out well. The new recruit to the Tara Laing ranks could have a bright future in this province and she is drawn best of all here.

Race 3: LADY AWAY(10)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

LADY AWAY
made the expected improvement when she went close over six furlongs on her polytrack debut in a strong line-up, four weeks ago. That was the chestnut filly’s second career outing and she should continue to blossom. The daughter of Ashaawes is well drawn at gate 4 and she should be competitive in this field.

Race 6: STEEL MAGNOLIA(3)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Snaith/Fortune combination could be at it again here and the four-year-old filly STEEL MAGNOLIA can follow-up on her impressive recent c & d victory. The daughter of Silvano had a poor draw when she finished strongly to win that last effort going away. She possibly escaped with just a three-pound penalty & despite taking on stronger now, she could prove equal to the task at hand. She has a good draw this time around.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 8: NEPTUNE’S JEWEL(1)

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

NEPTUNE’S JEWEL was given a short break after his below-par last showing and that could do the trick. The inmate from the Tara Laing yard had good form prior to that, including two decent efforts on this surface in slightly stronger company. The four-year-old gelding is well drawn in his comeback run and he should be competitive in this field.
