Magic Tips Best Bets

RACE 1: ARCHILLES(9)

Jockey: Brandon LERENA – Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER

A competitive opening maiden event tonight, featuring quite a few form runners. ARCHILLES is improving and he clearly found seven furlongs too sharp for him on this surface, recently. He was supported in the betting market that day and eventually found his feet to make eye-catching late progress. The mile will be right up his alley this evening and the son of Captain Al has lots more to give. He jumps from a good draw on his peak showing and Brandon Lerena retains the ride.

TOP BET
Race 2: ONESIE(5)

Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

ONESIE is the obvious form choice in this moderate maiden contest and she is her stable’s only runner on the card. She finished strongly to be close-up in her last two polytrack runs since returning from a 17-week absence and clearly has plenty more to offer. The daughter of Ideal World will be cherry ripe tonight and she should prove very tough to beat.

Race 3: ROY IS SECOND(6)
Jockey: Brandon LERENA – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

This is a most intriguing maiden event as the principle entrants still need to convince that they are as effective over a mile. ROY IS SECOND has shown promise in her five outings thus far and she finish- ed a creditable 3rd in a competitive line-up over six furlongs on her polytrack debut, six weeks ago. She tries this trip for the first time but her pedigree indicates that the daughter of Horse Chestnut won’t have an issue and she can pull this off. The chestnut filly has room for progress.

Race 8: SHE DONE GOOD(8)

Jockey:
Muzi YENI – Trainer: Belinda IMPEY

This is a competitive qualified maiden contest and the Queen’s Crest formline over six furlongs on this track on 21/09 should dominate proceedings. There could be a form reversal though and SHE DONE GOOD represents the value with top jockey Muzi Yeni in the saddle. This track specialist showed lots of speed and she only tired late in that event but tonight’s minimum trip could make all the difference. The bay filly is again drawn well and her small yard is in some decent form.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: WIND SINGER(4)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

There is plenty of form to recommend many entrants in this competitive seven furlong handicap which should yield another exciting dash to the line. However, the value could lie with the costly to follow but extremely capable daughter of Jay Peg, WIND SINGER, who is better than her form suggests, mostly due to the fact that her conditioner has struggled to work out her optimum distance. She proved ineffective over the mile last time but purely judging on her statistics, this is her best trip. The bay filly produced an eye-catching turn of foot to beat a competitive line-up over this c & d on Gold Cup Day. She is drawn in midfield and can bounce back to her best form.
