eMeM’s tips for Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas
The classy NAFAAYES thrashed a smart field of older rivals over this c & d in the summer and deserved her short nine-week absence. She meets her fellow age group on favourable terms according to official ratings and is certainly the one to beat from a good draw.
CELTIC SEA is starting to show signs of returning to her best juvenile form and she should have finished even closer to the unbeaten Hawwaam over shorter but for traffic problems early last month. The mile should suit the Tarry inmate perfectly and she may most likely trouble the top selection.
STORM DESTINY had a last gasp recent triumph over the game RUNNING BRAVE in a faster time than CELTIC SEA and HAWWAAM and the daughter of Dynasty will prefer this extra furlong. She has to, unfortunately, contend with a wide berth but it is worth noting that top jockey Gavin Lerena has preferred her to the progressive pair of CHITENGO and BLOSSOM whom he partnered to recent victories.

eMeM’s tips for the Gauteng Guineas
The powerful Mike de Kock yard is extremely well represented in this Grade 2 Gauteng Guineas and the betting market is clear evidence of that. The unbeaten HAWWAAM worked really hard for his recent triumph over shorter and though he will prefer the extra furlong, the half-brother to the brilliant recent Met winner Rainbow Bridge could be in for another tough fight today.
His stablemate BARAHIN progressed brilliantly with each juvenile start last campaign that ended with a last gasp victory over the sensational Soqrat (Cape Guineas winner and narrow Queen’s Plate runner-up). He has obviously suffered a setback since but the engaging of top jockey Marcus indicates that his conditioner will have him fit and well.
ALYAASAAT was immediately gelded following a lacklustre last feature effort behind the PE visitor NATIONAL PARK who was in turn soundly thrashed by HAWWAAM in The Dingaans three weeks later. However, this classy import would have benefitted from the rest and is undoubtedly capable in this company.
