Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 5: DO IT AGAIN (2)
Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: Snaith J

DO IT AGAIN ran a decent race when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Cape Town Met. He returns from a 15-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding carries a big mass of 62kgs, but his class should pull him through.

Race 6: LADY OF STEEL (1)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Janse van Vuur

LADY OF STEEL ran a good race when finishing third in the Grade 1 Empress Club Stakes last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight finished third over this C&D in the Grade 1 Woolavington 2000 last year. She jumps from pole position today and should be too good for this field.

Race 7: BELGARION (8)
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Snaith J

BELGARION moved up like a winner in the Grade 1 Cape Town Met, but was outrun by Rainbow Bridge who has come out and won since. The son of Dynasty won this race in fine style last year. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride this afternoon and he should keep his unbeaten record on this course intact.

Race 8: MR GONZALES (7)
Jockey: Dillon D – Trainer: Muscutt P

MR GONZALES followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He raced from a handy position and fought hard all the way to the line. He may still be ahead of the handicapper and the hat-trick is very much on the cards.

Race 3: SHAMPOMPO SHAMPI (5)
Jockey: Hewitson L – Trainer: Wright A

SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI followed up his debut win with a decent fourth-place finish. He raced from a handy position that day and may not have seen out the 1400m at this stage of his career. The son of Var will love the drop to the 1200m. He jumps from a handy barrier position and can return to winning ways.
