Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: MAGARI (4)
Race 3: HAIL COLUMBIA (2)
Race 6: PETRA (8)
Race 9: DOUBLE GEMINI (10)
TOP BET

Race 3: HAIL COLUMBIA (2)
Jockey: Veale S – Trainer: Drier D

HAIL COLUMBIA ran a very good race when finishing second on debut over the minimum trip on this course. He showed plenty of speed that day, but was outrun by the highly rated Captain Fontane. The son of Starspandgledbanner would have come on with the run under his belt and he can go one better here.

Race 6: GOLDEN CHANCE (5)
Jockey: Strydom K – Trainer: Drier D

GOLDEN CHANCE’S last start can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. She was not disgraced in her previous four starts in the Cape. The daughter of Dynasty has won two of her three starts on this course. She gets the services of capable 4kgs claiming apprentice Kyle Strydom and may be too good for this field.

Race 8: ZAGARA (4)
Jockey: Moodley S – Trainer: Forbes L

ZAGARA finished just a neck behind Chatty Cathy in her last start over ten furlongs on the polytrack. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The beautiful looking daughter of Master Of My Fate should strip much fitter today and may be the one to side with here.

Race 9: TRACK ATTACK (3)

Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Kannemeyer D

TRACK ATTACK should never have lost his last start over 1900m on the polytrack. He was bumped at the 200m mark that day and produced a powerful finish. The son of Dynasty is looking for this type of distance and with a bit of luck in running, should take a power of beating.

VALUE BET

Race 5: SPIFFY (14)
Jockey: Fourie R – Trainer: Gadsby P

SPIFFY showed some signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. Despite losing two lengths at the start, she stayed on well at the business end of the race. She gets a change of headgear this afternoon and if the blinkers have the desired effect, she should be the one to beat. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but Stuart Randolph is likely to switch her off near the rear of the field and make her do her best work up the straight.
