She showed good pace in her last outing, but found one too good in the form of Noosa Princess. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry- ripe. Robert Khathi retains the ride aboard the daughter of Trippi and she looks to be the one to side with.

FIRE FOR SURE produced a promising debut effort over the minimum trip on this course. He understandably raced green that day, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has worked out well. The son of Querari would have come on with the run under his belt and should enjoy the extra furlong on offer. With the natural progression that is expected, he should go one better here.

ISLA MAURICIO showed very good improvement in her last start over 1250m at Durbanville. The manner in which she finished off her race that day caught the eye. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will enjoy the rise to the mile and from her good draw of two, should be the one to beat in this type of field.

RASCALLION was ultra impressive when winning his maiden over seven furlongs at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He ran a good race on debut in the Cape Nursery behind Erik The Red. The son of Vercingetorix looks to be loaded with ability and should be too good for this field.

SPY is the value bet on today’s programme. He showed signs of needing his last two starts after returning from an 11-week break. He has finished second twice and third once from seven attempts over this distance. The 6yo gelding gets the services of a 4kg claiming apprentice and with just 48kgs on his back, he may be the one to cause the upset.
