Race 1 – 05:00 – 1400m – 2-Year Old Maiden Plate
Selections: 3 – 5 – 4 – 8 – 1
COUP DE TONNERRE wasn’t disgraced in feature company last time out when staying on for a 5,5-length defeat behind a useful looking Khoehoe. That was over the 1200m and he should relish this step up in trip, on his return to maiden level. The son of Night Of Thunder was only beaten 1,25 lengths by the latter in his penultimate start, under identical weight conditions, and a repeat of that effort should land him in the winners enclosure here. LIONEL has his third career start after two modest outings to date. The step up in trip should suit and with Luke Nolen in the irons, he must be respected. HEEZA COMMANDER finished right behind the top selection last time out and with the 1,5kg claimer up, he should go right into contention.

Race 2 – 05:35 – 1400m – 3-Year Old Maiden Plate
Selections: 5 – 3 – 7 – 2 – 1
THE STAGER gave a very good impression on debut over 1170m when staying on well from a handy position, for just a 0,75-length beating. The son of So You Think with relish this step up to the 1400m and with Luke Nolen retaining the ride, he should get the better of this field. LAYBUY can be forgiven for that modest last start, when caught wide and running out of steam late. That was his third career start as well as his third over the 1300m. He will relish this slight step up in trip and rates a threat with the improvement to come. BLACK MIRROR gave a good sight on debut when producing an eye-catching last 400m. He came from way back that day, suggesting the step up to the 1400m will suit and he must be considered as a result.

Race 3 – 06:05 – 1600m – Maiden Plate
Selections: 8 – 4 – 9 – 12 – 7
OLD HEAD has impressed in his two starts to date, despite letting his followers down having found favouritism on both occasions. He may consider himself unlucky last time out, with bad timing being the main cause of his defeat. He will relish this step up to the mile and the son of Pins should be one of the best bets on the day. HE’S RUN AWAY has been knocking on the door in his last four starts and it is only a matter of time before he finds the winners enclosure. Drawn wide, he will be gunning for the lead at the off and building on his latest effort in better conditions this time around, he should be involved in the finish. PERSAN gave a good account of himself last time out, when returning for his first start this year. He will be much better over the extra here and deserves plenty of respect second up.

Race 4 – 06:45 – 1000m – Maiden Plate
Selections: 7 – 11 – 4 – 2 – 8
TAI SHAN probably needed his last start when returning for his first run this year, the second of his career. The son of Akeed Mofeed will enjoy this slight drop in trip and should be one of the leading contenders in an open race. TO HER DOOR gave a good sight in an impressive trial last July and she has been unsighted since. The daughter of Adelaide clearly has ability and if racing fresh she should go into contention. OURZACRACKER ran on well from midfield to gain second in his comeback run last time. He will strip a lot fitter this time and with a bit of luck in running he deserves plenty of respect.

Race 5 – 07:15 -1000m – BM64 Handicap
Selections: 7 – 11 – 2 – 4 – 12
DINGA drops slightly in class after being outgunned in his latest attempt, when following up after a good win prior to that. A speedy son of Safeguard, he will be expected to sit just off the first line under Dean Yendall and he will be mounting a big challenge late with a win being the likeliest outcome. MONETIZING returned a winner last time out, when having her first start this year. The scopey daughter of Turffontein will have plenty more to come over the same course and distance for her handicap debut, but she could be ahead of the handicapper and must be considered. LIBERTY SONG steps up slightly in class after two solid efforts recently. With the 3kg claimer retaining the ride, he should be able to continue his good recent form and feature here.

Race 6 – 07:45 – 2200m – BM64 Handicap
Selections: 11 – 8 – 9 – 3 – 13
FIFTYONESTATES looks to be due another win after two solid efforts over this sort of trip and class, in her last two starts. The 4-year old daughter of Americain is yet to be unplaced in three starts at this course and from another plum draw she looks the one to beat in this field. NIRVANA has been in good recent form and he will be looking for this step up to a trip where he ran second in his only attempt. Brad Rawiller has gate 12 to overcome and with a bit of luck in running he should feature prominently. RAPTURES is another contender who deserves a mention. He comes off the back of a good win against slightly weaker last time out, but the 3-year old son of Fastnet Rock will relish the extra ground here and with scope for more progression he cannot be discounted.

Race 7 – 08:15 – 1600m – BM70 Handicap
Selections: 7 – 1 – 12 – 8 – 2
ADVERSARY has given a very good account of himself since returning to the course this year. He enjoyed stepping up to the 1400m last time out, after finding the 1200m in his comeback run a touch on the sharp side. He steps up further to the mile here and he will be looking to extend his unbeaten record in two starts over this course and distance. UNDER OATH drops in class after a solid effort over further last time out. He has featured over this trip on two occasions from his three attempts so far and looks a major contender at this level.

Race 8 – 08:50 – 1400m – BM70 Handicap
Selections: 5 – 6 – 7 – 1 – 2
REVLIS displayed a brilliant turn-of-foot to flash home for 2nd when returning from a rest last time. The 1100m would’ve been short of his best trip with a solid record first and second up, he will relish this 1400m trip. From a decent draw, he has the credentials to win this. MIDNIGHT COWBOY drops back in class after a modest effort in feature conditions last time. If reproducing the form he showed prior to that run, he should be a major threat to the top selection. AMMOUDI BAY has been knocking on the door in his last few starts over this trip. He drops slightly in class after a solid effort from a deep draw last time and if building on that run, he must be included.
