Race 4

PLATINUM EUROS missed out on his hat-trick when finishing a short-head second last time out over five furlongs when returning from a lengthy 39 week break. He finished strongly that day and his jockey was questioned about his tactics. He steps up to six furlongs today, but on that last performance, this should be to his liking. He jumps from a handy gate two and looks to be the one to side with here. Although PERFECT AIM is recorded as finishing fifth in his last outing over this trip, he was just over a length and a half behind the winner. He was making good late progress in that contest and is drawn one outside the top choice. He may emerge as his biggest danger. SPENDING MY TIME had finished a close up third in his last two runs over this c&d prior to disappointing eighth place finish last time out over the same c&d, 4.2L back from the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. He has crack pole position and will get the services of ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd which is a plus.

Race 5

BALLISTIC BOY has won two out of his three last starts, the latest when a short-head winner over a mile. He hit the front at the 200M mark that day and then fought off all challengers for a narrow victory. He has his peak run here after returning from a 22 week absence and from his gate six, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s program. SNITCH is drawn one inside the top pick and stayed on well to end up in sixth place in his latest outing over 1300M, three and a half lengths back from the victor. He steps up in distance here, but on that last effort, this should not be an issue. GAULOIS finished eighth in his last start over 1500M, but was just over two and a half lengths behind the winner and seems suited to the extra ground on offer today. He has pulled pole position and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

Despite there being five late scratchings in the race, finding the winner is no easy task. The tentative first choice goes to DEGAS who followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just a head behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only collared in the shadow of the post. He has drawn gate two and should be right up there when they hit the line. SO YOU SHOP has shown solid improvement in his last two outings, winning his last start over 1300M by a head when using front-running tactics. He is drawn in gate six and will most likely attempt to do the same today. RUN ON also won his penultimate run, in his case over 1300M and then followed that up with a second-place finish next time out over seven furlongs. He will have to negotiate a wide draw thirteen, but has Robbie Fradd in the irons so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. ADELASE on the other hand has pole position. She is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and takes a step up in distance from the seven furlongs of her last two outings. She should be doing her best work late and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

BROCKY is seldom far off the action and finished third in his last start over 1300M, 0.7L adrift of the winner. He made a hash of the start that day losing ground, but recovered well to be finish off his race well. He will have to deal with draw ten out of twelve, but seems likely to turn in another honest performance today and as such, the colt is made the value bet on the card. TOOMAI is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She had finished second in her two runs prior to finishing tenth last time out over 1300M, just over three lengths behind the winner. She was however hampered at the 100M pole in that run and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. She is drawn in gate seven and should give the boys a good run for their money. LOVE EXPRESS battled all the way down to the wire before ending up in third place last time out over 1300m, just under a length behind the winner. He will have to deal with draw nine, but he should be right up there in the mix.
