Race 1 – 04:10
VOODOO CROWN went
down by just under half a length last time out on her handicap debut, following
a debut win when leaving the maidens. Beaten by FREYA’S CLOAK, she now lines up with a 2kg advantageous turn around
at the weights and on those credentials, she should be able to reverse the
result this time. The latter should be involved in the finish once again,
despite the weight turn around alluded to above. She was a surprise winner in
that latest effort and should have enough progression to go into contention
once again.
Race 2 – 04:45
A tricky Maiden Plate will great punters here and the
tentative nod goes to LETTEMGO to
grab top honours in the second race. The 3-year old son of Epaulette returns
for his first run this year, on the back of two respectable efforts to date. If
not too in need of the run, he should be a leading contender in the finish. ALLARES is also just getting going,
having featured thereabouts in her three starts to date. She looks likely to go
into contention if the break has worked in her favour and deserves inclusion. BOB’N’CAT showed good improvement when
landing a third-place finish in his follow up effort towards the end of last
year. He too lines up for his first run this year and he’ll be worth including
with the expected improvement to come.
Race 3 – 05:20
SIR ANGUS has
given a good impression in his last three starts and the recent rise in trip
has certainly benefitted the son of Deep Field. From a plum draw, Raymond
Spokes regains the ride and the pair deserve plenty of respect here. READY TO PARTY gave a decent site in
that last run over 1000m. He followed up with a good trial recently and if
overcoming barrier 9, he should be involved in the finish. IT’S A BOY may have just needed those last three starts and he
should strip a lot fitter now, for this slight rise in trip. He does have a
tough draw to overcome and if doing so, could pop up at a decent price.
Race 4 – 05:55
ALATORA returns
after a rest here and he will be looking to kick off this campaign on a
positive note. He won his last start over the 900m when a fast tempo set up the
finish perfectly for this 7-year old gelding. With two wins from five first up
attempts, he shouldn’t be too in need of this outing and looks the one to beat.
JULE’S SPIRIT has been in very good
form this year, having notched up two wins and two places from his last four
starts. Luke Rolls knows him well and with 4-wins to his name from his 9
attempts over this trip, he should be the biggest danger to the top one.
Race 5 – 07:10
ANNIE ETHYL had
excuses in that modest last run, when travelling just behind the leading line
before being baulked for a clear run in the closing stages. On her form prior
to that she should have big claims in this sort of company and with the distance
record to back up her credentials, she rates the one to beat. SPIRIT IN THE SKY has a clear
preference for a bit of cut out the ground and he put that affinity on display
with a creditable win in Class 1 company last time. With a win and a place from
his three attempts over this trip, he should be a major contender to the top
selection.
Race 6 – 07:10
STYLISH PATTERN
has gone close to winning in his last two starts and he now drops back to the
1400m, a trip where he was touched off by 0,05-lengths last time. He has a
solid record over the 1400m and having landed a plum draw here, the son of
Canford Cliffs should be a big contender for first prize. TOWER ROAD stayed on strongly for just a 1,5-length defeat in 4th
last time out, in this class of opposition. He seems to be going the right way
and on his current credentials, he’ll relish this slightly sharper trip and
should be right there at the business end. VIKING
RAID
lands another wide draw, but he has been showing signs of a big
performance and with luck in running, should be able to feature prominently.
Race 7 – 07:50
The penultimate race on the card appears to be the
unofficial headliner on the card, a wide-open BM 84 Handicap over 1400m. The
top choice goes to EXCLUSIVE who
arrives on the back of some quality form at this level. The 4-year old son of
Written Tycoon now steps up to the 1400m where he has won on four occasion from
his eight attempts to date. After hitting the line with good intent last time
out, despite finding one better on the day, he should be cherry ripe for this
outing and should be one of the leading contenders at the business end. NOTHINGFORTHEPRESS arrives on the back
of a solid trial recently. That was his first site since that very good
performance in his last official start back in January this year, when
finishing runner up over the mile. The slight drop in trip should suit and
despite not featuring in four previous first-up attempts, the trial would’ve
brought him on nicely for this and he must be considered.
Race 8 – 08:25
ESKIMO COMMANDER
has just been touched off in those last two starts in slightly weaker company,
but he does appear to be going the right way. He drops slightly in trip after
almost going start to finish in that latest attempt and if building on that
effort, looks sure to go right into contention here. TILLY’S STAR followed up that maiden win in her penultimate start
over this trip with a very good second last time, when finding one better on
the day. The 3-year old daughter of So You Think has plenty of scope for
further progression and rates the biggest threat to the top one here.
