RACE 1

CHEERFUL STAR is the top selection in a wide-open contest to kick things off. The French-bred finished mid-pack last time out but if reproducing the form of his penultimate run when beaten1.5L at the wire then he will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the line. OWNERS STAR finished 3L behind Fast Pace who has since run a place. He shoulders top weight but must have each-way claims in a contest of this nature. VICTORIOUS SEEKER showed signs of needing his comeback effort. He should come on nicely with that run under the belt and he can run into the money.

RACE 2

PHENOMENAL COMBO is an unexposed sort who finish runner-up on debut at long-odds. With the expected natural improvement on offer, he should be able to make his presence felt with 1kg claiming apprentice Matthew Poon in the saddle. FORTUNE HAPPINESS is much better than his last start suggests. He has shown some ability in the past and could pose a threat to the top selection. MOMENTUM GALAXY was only beaten 1.1L last time out. He shoulders joint top weight in this contest but needs to be respected.

RACE 3

GREEN GENERATION represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. He got going too late last time when finishing strongly in to the runner-up berth. It is encouraging that Joao Moreira has kept faith in the ride and can find himself in the winner’s enclosure. GREAT SMART gets a claiming apprentice up in the form of Jerry Chau and the manner in which he won his last start suggests that there may be a bit more to come. STRAPPING BAUHINIA returns from a short break and if putting his best foot forward then he can run into the money.

RACE 4

A SMILE LIKE YOURS is the best bet on the card. He caught the eye on debut at this course when finishing runner-up. He is still relatively unexposed and with the natural improvement that is expected he should take a power of beating. BRANDING POWER is another unexposed sort who is sure to improve. He finished mid-pack on debut but will come on leaps and bounds from the experience. DAILY BEAUTY didn’t have everything go his way last time out. With better luck in running he should be right there when they reach the business end.

RACE 5

V CHEVALIERS finished strongly behind Fast Pace last time out. He shoulders the same weight in this contest and looks fairly-handicapped. RED BRICK FIGHTER has found one better in his last two starts. He was beaten by the narrowest of margins last time out and must be respected with only 52kgs to shoulder. FAITHFUL TRINITY is an honest sort. He likes to race on the speed and if putting his best foot forward then he can run into the money.

RACE 6

ANGEL OF MY EYES is drawn wide but he finished strongly off the pace last time. If getting across from his wide draw without using up too much energy then he should be able to make it quick back-to-back triumphs. TOTAL POWER beat Play Wise last time out and rises in class for this contest. He gets a 1kg claiming apprentice aboard and it would be no surprise to see him enter the frame again. THE ROCK showed signs of needing his comeback effort on this track last time out. He wasn’t disgraced on that occasion though and will strip a much fitter horse this time around.

RACE 7

WE THE SOUTH likes to dictate matters and he will likely try and get across from his wide draw to set the pace. He can be hard to peg back when at his best and he could take an absolute power of beating. FABULOUS EIGHT has been ascending in the ratings and although he is without regular rider Joao Moreira this time, he should still be able to be competitive in this grade. FLYING GENIUS has finished third in his last two outings. The Aussie bred gets current Hong Kong champion jockey Zac Purton aboard and he should run into the money again.

RACE 8

SCORES OF FUN got nabbed in the shadow of the post last time out. He led throughout on that occasion and if adopting similar tactics he will be difficult to peg back in the closing stages. FALCON TURBO shoulders top weight but he has finished runner-up in his last two outings and on form looks the obvious threat to the top selection. HIGH RISE SOLDIER got beaten by the South African-bred Lobo’s Legend last time out who ran a fair race subsequently. He is not short of race-fitness and also looks a strong contender in the lucky last.
