Race 5

This looks to be a tricky race to start off the Jackpot and some caution is advised. The tentative first choice goes to HARDYO who is seldom too far off the action and who had to race three wide before finishing fourth last time out over 1700M, just over three lengths behind the winner. He stayed on well that day and despite having to negotiate a wide draw ten, he should be right up there when they hit the line. POLITICAL battled all the way down to the wire before ending up third last time out over this trip, 3.8L off the winner. He has a kinder draw four and could be the biggest danger to the top pick. POET LAD made good late progress when finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, four and a half lengths behind the winner, suggesting that the step up in distance will be to his liking. From his gate two, he should be respected in this line-up. Although LANDSTRASSE is recorded as finishing fifth in his last start over 1500M, he was just two and a half lengths off the victor. He did not get the clearest of passages that day and the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from draw seven and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

CALL ME BRAD had his consistency rewarded with a win last time out over 1250m at this track. He hit the front at the 200M mark that day and then proceeded to put five lengths between himself and the opposition to win easing up. He jumps from gate five and could complete his double today. MAGIC PALACE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has made steady improvement in her last two outings since returning from a lengthy 82 week absence, the latest when fourth over six furlongs, 2.4L behind the winner. She has her peak run here and has a handy draw two, so is likely to give the males a good run for their money. EUROAIRE had to weave through the field before going on to win his last start over this c&d by one and a half lengths. He will have to deal with a wide draw thirteen, but he will most likely be dropped out of the race in the early stages and then should be picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages of the contest.

Race 7

MARRIED TO THE MOB has consistent formlines to his credit and finished fifth last time out over this sprint trip, just under two lengths off the winner. He had to be checked and was then carried out at the 200M pole that day and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. He has his peak run here after returning from a 20 week rest and from gate four, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. TIME FOR DON has finished second in his last two runs, the latest when beaten a short-head over 1300M. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only collared in the shadow of the post. The colt jumps from draw seven and could emerge as the biggest threat to the former. OUR MATE CHUCKLES followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a sixth place finish next time out over five furlongs, just over a length behind the winner. He had to be checked on two occasions in the straight that day and whilst having to deal with a wide draw twelve, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

INVINCIBLE NINJA won her penultimate start over five furlongs and then was a short-head loser of her next outing over this c&d. She is a speedy sort who was only reeled in a few strides from the winning post and from draw six today, she may prove difficult to overhaul over the latter stages of today’s event and, as such, she is made the value bet on the program. COOL MISSILE returns from a 20 week rest, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. She had finished second in her two starts over the six furlongs before the break, the latest just a head back from the winner. She has drawn three and should be right up there in the firing line. IMSOUANE showed marked improvement when finishing third last time out over five furlongs, beaten two and a half lengths when returning from a 24 week break. She has a wideish gate nine, but a repeat of that last effort would see her challenge the top two selections.
