VALUE BET – CLASSIC UNICORN

BEST BET – PLAY WISE

RACE 1

VIRTUS STAR is in search of a hat-trick of wins. He surprisingly remains in Class 5 and has notched up a considerably strong partnership with French ace Alex Badel. BABY STORM only finished 1.3L behind the winner in his last start. He jumps from pole position and won’t be short of racing fitness. WINNERS BROTHER finished 4L behind the top selection last time. He is only 2kgs better off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result in the curtain opener.

RACE 2

PLAY WISE has finished runner-up in his last three outings. He was only beaten by the narrowest of margins in his last start and from his inside barrier position, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure. VICTORIOUS SEEKER returns from a five-month layoff. The Aussie-bred boasts decent form and the break may have done him the world of good. If returning fit then he can pose a threat to the top selection. NUNCHUKS backed up his favourite status when winning by a neck last time out. The booking of Joao Moreira is intriguing and he may well be able to follow up on his recent win.

RACE 3

WOOD ON FIRE was narrowly beaten by a head last time out. He ran on from last on that occasion and from his wide draw he will likely adopt similar tactics. Derek Leung retains the ride and the pair will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the wire. HERCULES was only beaten by 1.5L on the all-weather track last time. He is joint-top rated in the contest and must be respected with French ace Antoine Hamelin in the saddle. REWARDING TOGETHER finished third in his comeback effort. He will strip a much fitter horse and must be considered from his inside barrier position.

RACE 4

ONE HAPPY STAR led for turning home and failed to put his best foot forward. If recapturing the form of his penultimate run when pipped by Super Red Dragon then he will be a strong contender for top honours. MONKEY JEWELLERY is much better than his flat latest when beaten 4L at the wire. He looks fairly-handicapped with 59kgs to shoulder and could pick up the pieces should the top selection fluff his lines. GREAT SON has finished third in his last two outings. The Aussie-bred shoulders a light weight with a claiming apprentice up and is likely to be right up there racing on the speed.

RACE 5

GOOD VIEW CLARICO has finished third in both of his recent efforts. He should be cherry-ripe having his third run after a rest and will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice. HAPPY GOOD GUYS has inconsistent form lines but he wasn’t disgraced last time when beaten 2L by Compassion Spirit. He shoulders just 51.5kgs and can make his presence felt if putting his best foot forward. GRATEFUL HEART won his last start and is another horse having his peak run. He is looking for his fourth career triumph and must have each-way claims.

RACE 6

ALL YOU KNOW only finished a length behind the winner last time. Chad Schoefield returns from a short hiatus and he will be hungry to get into the winners enclosure. REGENCY MASTER brings ultra-consistent form. He is the top-rated horse in the race and despite shouldering top weight he must be a huge threat with current champion jockey Zac Purton in the irons. KING DRAGON has been beaten narrowly in his last two outings. If getting across from his wide draw without using up too much energy then he should be right there at the business end.

RACE 7

CLASSIC UNICORN dictated terms well last time. He should adopt similar tactics from pole position and he definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. EXPLOSIVE WITNESS made a triumphant return to the racecourse. He is in search of a hat-trick and will have plenty followers. MULTIMILLION is coming along the right way. He finished third behind the top selection in his penultimate start and is now 3kgs better off at the weights which should be enough to turn the tables.

RACE 8

ANGEL OF MY EYES wasn’t disgraced last time out when beaten 2.75L at the wire. His form prior to that catches the eye and he looks fairly-handicapped with just 53.5kgs to shoulder. SUMSTREETSUMWHERE is another one who just finished just off them last time. His form prior to that is very consistent and he will benefit from a 2.5kgs claiming apprentice. THE ROCK returns from a short break. He won his last start narrowly at Sha Tin but if all fit and well then he should be able to make his presence felt in the lucky last race.
