International Racing: Happy Valley Turf – Wednesday 11 March 2020

Jockeys ride horses

There are eight races on the Valley course this Wednesday 11th March 2020 and it could be another meeting dominated by Joao Moreira and Zac Purton.

With that said, SPEED VISION could be a bit of a value bet on the card. He is currently trading at 2/1 (10h10) and should be worth following with the 5-pound apprentice up, in race 5. EVERYONE’S ELITE appears to be the best bet, with Moreira retaining the ride in the 6th race. He went very close over the same course and distance last time and should win this time around.

Best Bet: EVERYONE’S ELITE (Race 6)
Value Bet: SPEED VISION (Race 5)

A Class 5 event over 1650m kicks of the meeting and GALAXY RACER will be looking to give his followers a head start with a win in the first race. He showed good improvement with the blinkers fitted over the 7-furlongs last time out and with Purton taking the mount, he should be tough to collar. KA YING BRILLIANCE returns to the Turf course on the back of three fair efforts on the All-Weather. The trip will be right up his alley and from a useful draw, he should be the main challenger to the top selection.

DESTINE JEWELLERY faltered late from a tough draw over the 1400m last time out and he will be much easier to follow from an improved draw this time around when he steps out in race 2. He has placed twice over this course and distance and off his reduced rating, looks a major contender here. MR PICASSO is also approaching a much more forgiving mark, having recently dropped 5-points in his last 5 outings. Purton takes the mount from a tricky draw and he should be right there with a bit of luck.

DOR DOR is the pick to win the third race, another trip over the 1650m but this time a Class 4 event. The son of Shamexpress is very effective over this course and distance and he should be worth following with Moreira up. STAR MAJESTIC and CHARITY WINGS should be his biggest threat.

The fourth race is another Class 4 event over the 6-furlongs and Zac Purton has another nice opportunity to add to his win tally, when he partners up with COMPASSION STAR once again. Drawn wide, he should have the gate speed to land up just behind the first row of front runners and on his current form, looks the leading contender here. VICTORY MASTERY improved when having his first outing at the Valley course last time out and with Moreira taking the mount this time, he deserves plenty of respect.

The fifth race is the first of three Class 3 events on the program and it’s the top-weighted SPEED VISION who gets the nod. He has shown solid improvement in his last two starts, since dropping into this class two starts back and from a plum draw should be the one to beat here. JUMBO HAPPINESS finished right behind the former last time out he’ll be fitted with a visor this time. From another plum draw, he should be right there.

The sixth race brings us to the best bet on the card in the form of EVERYONE’S ELITE. He has finished 2nd in all of his last 4 outings, all of which have come over this course and distance. Joao Moreira retains the ride and it is hard to look past this son of Dalakhani this time. His biggest danger could be VILLA FIONN who lands an improved draw for a change. With Purton up, he should be right there.

Back in Class 3 company for the penultimate race and DIAMOND BRILLIANT should be worth following despite his wide barrier. He went close to winning in his only start over this course and distance last time out and he has the credentials to win this. MASSIVE POCKET and BE READY should be his biggest dangers.

The final race on the card is a Class 3 test over 1800m. NABOO STAR has been in solid form of late and he warranted his rise into this class last time with a smart win over the 1650m. The extra ground should suit, and he could still be ahead of the handicapper. BLASTOISE also handled the rise in class well last time out and with Moreira retaining the ride, he must be included.
