International Racing: Kranji 3 January 2021

The first race meeting of the New Year for Singapore, sees a 10 race programme carded for Kranji Racecourse. The best bet come in Race 6 with Blue Blood and the value bet in Race 3 with Vulcan.

RACE 1 (06:30) WELCOME 2021 STAKES CLASS 5 (1) POLYTRACK 1600M

SELECTIONS: 10-9-2-8-1

GOLD KINGDOM comes into this contest in a good run of form. He has finished second twice and third once in his last three runs.  Jockey Oscar Chauvez jumps aboard for this contest and the pair must have big winning claims. FIDDLESTICK  hasn’t been too far back in his last two starts and with South African jockey JP van der Merwe in the irons, the pair should be right there at the finish. PER INCROWN raced wide in his last start but still managed to finish in fourth, with a bit of cover and with Ruan Maia aboard, they can be competitive.

RACE 2 (07:00) PROSPERITY STAKES RESTRICTED MAIDEN (2 AND 3 YEAR OLD) (WEIGHT FOR AGE) TURF TRACK ‘A’ (LC) 1200M

SELECTIONS: 5-2-6-10-11

BAD BOY BLACK had a decent debut when finishing in third. He gets See Joseph in the irons today and with the experience of his debut run under the belt, the pair should be right there when they reach the line. STRONG N SMART always runs on late and with jockey Andrew Sundradas retaining the ride, the pair should be right there at the finish. FIGHTING HERO was impressive on debut, as he finished in second, a repeat of that form, should see him in the mix at the finish. 

RACE 3 (07:30) GOOD HEALTH STAKES CLASS 4 (2) POLYTRACK 1100M

SELECTIONS: 8-7-6-3-10

VULCAN was bumped on jumping in his last start and unfortunately raced wide throughout but still managed to run on for fourth, with Mathew Kellady in the irons, he must have winning claims. HEALTHY STAR had excuses in his last start but in his form prior to that run, he should be in the mix at the finish. TAX FREE’S last start should be ignored as he raced wide without cover, if producing his form before that, he should be in the top three.

RACE 4 (08:00) HAPPINESS STAKES OPEN MAIDEN (WEIGHT FOR AGE) POLYTRACK 1200M

SELECTIONS: 10-3-8-9-11

SPEARHEAD finished in a good second in his first run over the course and distance last time. A repeat of that effort should see him as the one to beat at the finish.  MORE THAN OIL has been right there in his last two starts and with Ronald Woodworth aboard, the pair should be competitive at the finish. LIM’S OCEANIC had excuses on debut and that run should be ignored, with the expected improvement, he can feature here

RACE 5 (08:30) MICHAEL JOHN CLEMENTS STAKES CLASS 5 POLYTRACK 1000M

SELECTIONS: 1-7-4-9-8

BLACK QUAIL is a speedy sort and he is in a good run of form, he drops to the minimum trip for this encounter and he should be right there at the finish. WHAT YOU LIKE is always right there and must have a chance with apprentice Hakim aboard from pole.  BOOM SHAKALAKA bled in his last start and was suspended, if he has overcome his issues, he can run into the money. 

RACE 6 (09:00) VLADMIR DURIC STAKES CLASS 4 TURF TRACK ‘A’ (LC) 1600M

SELECTIONS: 4-6-8-9-1

BLUE BLOOD has been impressive in his career thus far having won and finished second twice. With Ruan Maia jumping aboard, he should be able to keep his good form going and notch up another career victory. ROMANTIC improved in his last start to finish in third and a continuation of that improvement should see him in the money at the finish. SPECIAL OPS went from start to finish to win his last start and a repeat of that form, should see him in the top three

RACE 7 (09:30) MOHD A’ISISUHAIRI BIN KASIM STAKES CLASS 3 POLYTRACK 1000M

SELECTIONS: 5-3-2-1-8

SUPER INVINCIBLE is in a good form and looks the one to beat. In his last three starts,  he has finished second twice and won once. A continuation of that form with Ruan Maia aboard, should see him in the winners box here. NATIONALITY ran on strongly in his last start to finish in second and a continuation of that form should see him in the mix at the finish. DARC BOUNTY has had excuses in his last few starts, but if putting his best foot forward, he must be considered for the placings.

RACE 8 (10:00) FALCON RACING STABLES STAKES CLASS 5 (2) POLYTRACK 1600M

SELECTIONS: 10-5-3-1-4

ZOFFSPEED hasn’t finished too far back in his last few starts and with Louis Phillepe Beuzelin in the irons, he should be right there at the finish. MAXIMILIAN looks to be a consistent sort and with apprentice Hakim in the irons, he should be in the mix at the finish. LADY STUNNING improved to win his last start and a continuation of that improvement should see him in the top three.

RACE 9 (10:30) HAPPY NEW YEAR KRANJI STAKES A (SET WEIGHTS) POLYTRACK 1200M

SELECTIONS: 4-5-3-2-1

MURAAHIB didn’t enjoy the wet conditions in his last start but if he produces his form prior to that effort, he must have big claims here. NOWYOUSEE is in a consistent run of form and should be right there challenging the top selection in the run down to the line. SURPASS NATURAL has good Grade 1 form and must be considered for the trifectas. 

RACE 10 (11:00) SIMON KOK WEI HOONG STAKES CLASS 4 (1) POLYTRACK 1100M

SELECTIONS: 3-1-5-12-10

I AM SCARED has finished close-up in his last two starts and with Ruan Maia in the irons, the pair should be right there when they reach the line. LEGEND OF THE SUN is a speedy sort and the drop in trip should suit him well, he should be challenging the top selection at the finish. KHAN is in a good run of form and can challenge the top two in the run down to the line.
