International Racing: Kranji (Poly) – Sunday 1st December 2019

Jockeys ride horses

A full card of ten races kicks off the month of December in Singapore and despite the fact that Class 3 level is as good as it gets here, there are plenty of opportunities for punter to find value.

The best bet comes early, in race 2, in the form of NINGALOO. He has his second start after a promising debut and with the expected improvement, he should be tough to beat. In the very next race, HOSAYLIAO finds a plum draw after boxing on well in his last start. He has solid form prior to that and in a trappy affair, could be the one to side with.

Best Bet: NINGALOO (Race 2)
Value Bet: HOSAYLIAO (Race 3)

Race 1 – 06:55 – Class 5 – 1200m
Selections: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 – 3
YULONG FIRE relished the drop to this trip last time when overcoming a tough draw. That was on his return to racing after a two-month break when dropping into this class of opposition. Drawn well this time, he gets the services of the 2kg claiming Shafrizal and if building on that solid comeback run, he will be involved in the finish. BORN TO WIN won his last start at the 8th time of asking, when overcoming a tricky draw. He had been knocking on the door prior to that and the win was somewhat expected. With just the 5-point penalty for the win, he drops to the 6-furlongs here and he could still be ahead of the handicapper. Drawn well, he rates a major threat and must go in. MISS MICHELLE goes for the hat-trick of wins here, having dropped in trip in her last two starts and finding the winners enclosure. She has received a 13-point penalty for those last two victories and a wide draw this time will make things even tougher. With that said, she is in solid form and deserves plenty of respect. PRATT STREET is a class dropper here, having made little progress in his last five starts. He should start to improve off his reduced rating and Michael Rodd makes for an attractive booking from gate 2. With this being his second run back after a 2-month recess, he should strip fitter and must be included.

Race 2 – 07:25 – Open Maiden – 1000m
Selections: 10 – 2 – 6 – 5 – 7
NINGALOO appears to be the obvious selection to beat this field, after a smart debut when showing plenty of promise. That was over this course and distance when showing plenty of early speed and staying on well in the closing stages. He has a difficult draw to deal with this time, but against a field of this calibre, he should have the necessary improvement to overcome the draw and win this. GOOD LUCK CHARM returns from a 12-month absence from the course, on the back of some solid form at the end of his last campaign. He will more than likely be in desperate need of the run, but having landed three places from his six starts so far, he has more to come. From barrier 1, he will be fitted with the blinkers and he should be right there. NINETYSIX WARRIOR gave a good account of himself over this course and distance on debut. He will have more scope for improvement to build on that run and from another decent draw, he must be included. GOLD ZEST makes his course debut here, after showing up well in both trials. The son of Highly Recommended lands a plum draw and he’ll be fitted with the pacifiers for his first run. Zaki retains and he must be included.

Race 3 – 07:55 – Class 4 – 1100m
Selections: 6 – 1 – 2 – 9 – 5
HOSAYLIAO has been in good recent form in this class of opposition, featuring prominently in both starts before that disappointing latest. He was forced to race extremely wide after bouncing out from gate 10 and that put an end to any chance of a decent run. From a much-improved draw this time, he will be looking to repeat that penultimate run and that should be good enough to land his second win here. EFFORTLESS has been inconsistent form over the latter half of 2019 and he appears to be off a competitive rating currently, having only finished out of the first three places once in his last five starts. Kellady takes the ride from good draw and the son of Reward for Effort rates a big challenger on current form. I AM BEAUTIFUL showed solid improvement last time out, when winning over the 5-furlongs. With the apprentice claiming 2kg’s and the blinkers going on, he looks a threat from a useful draw. LIM’S RIPPLE has dropped to competitive rating and with the 3kg claiming apprentice booking, he looks well weighted to mount a very big challenge. Drawn well again, he must be included in all exotics.

Race 4 – 08:30 – Maiden – 1600m
Selections: 3 – 2 – 6 – 4 – 7
ACCUMULATION has slipped in the ratings and he drops back into Maiden company, after showing signs of improvement in his last three starts. Those three efforts came in Class 5 company and he lands a useful draw for a go at picking up his maiden win. He should relish the step up in trip and rates the one to beat. HUNTSMAN has only had the five starts so far and he has shown signs of winning soon. He showed good improvement last time when stepping up in trip for his second run back after a rest and he’ll strip a fit horse for his peak run over the mile. He lands another tough draw, but with Michael Rodd booked for the ride he rates a major threat. ZOFFSPEED showed good improvement last time when boxing on well over the mile on Turf. He returns to the Poly track here and lands a reasonable draw for a shot at his first win. With this being his 9th outing, he still has scope for improvement and must be included. VICTORY JOY drops back into Maiden company after two modest performances at Class 5 level. His best recent effort has come on this surface and with a bit of luck from gate 8, he can feature on his best form.

Race 5 – 09:00 – Class 5 – 1100m
Selections: 3 – 7 – 1 – 6 – 10
SUPERTEN has shown up well in his last two starts, over this course and distance. He won his penultimate start, before following that up with a smart effort last time out. He could still be a point or two in front of the handicapper and from a good draw, he looks a big runner in this trappy event. SUPER EMPEROR enjoyed dropping back to this class last time when staying on strongly for a well-deserved third-place finish. He lands another very handy draw this time, for a follow-up run that is expected to produce some useful dividends for this son of All to Hard. The more experience Kellady is engaged to ride him this time and he must be included. LIM’S FORCE has been thereabouts in his last two starts, since dropping slightly in trip. He won his penultimate start over five furlongs and a repeat of that effort should bring him right into the equation here. Drawn well again, the son of Foxwedge must go in. EASY SOUTH EAST has finished just off them in his last three starts and he has slipped four points in the ratings as a result. With the 2kg claiming Shafrizal up, he will be looking to repeat that penultimate run and if doing so, he should be right there.

Race 6 – 09:30 – Class 4 – 1100m
Selections: 5 – 2 – 3 – 7 – 6
ROYAL PAVILION has been a major threat in his last three outings, since rising into this class and dropping back slightly in trip after that modest comeback run. Drawn in gate 3, he retains the services of the 2kg claiming Shafrizal who seems to get the best out of him. On his last two starts in this class, he looks tough to oppose here. COMING THROUGH looks to be the best of the rest, having found the winners box in his last start when switching back to the Poly track. A two-time winner from four starts, he finds another very handy draw and on current form in this class, it is hard to imagine him going a long time without adding to that win tally. He as plenty of scope to handle the 6-point rise in the ratings for that latest victory and he must be included here. SUPERMAX was an ultra-impressive winner in Maiden company last time out, producing a 5-length gap between him and the second horse at the wire. He has overcome a wide draw in both of his last two starts and from gate 6 this time, Wong retains the ride on the son of Reward for Effort. With a win and two places for just the four runs so far, he should handle the step up to this class and must be included here. MACH has been in solid form of late and he is certainly at home at this level. Having negated 2 wide draws in his last two starts, he finds a slightly improved barrier here and Daniel Moor takes the ride. He gets the blinkers and pacifiers removed this time and that could be the catalyst for a winning effort. A repeat of his penultimate run and he will be right there at the business end.

Race 7 – 10:05 – Class 5 – 1200m
Selections: 3 – 5 – 11 – 2 – 4
HOST THE NATION has slipped 6-points in the ratings in his last five starts and the 10-year old son of Host gets the added benefit of the 4kg claiming Nizar to do duty. He has been inconsistent recent form, finishing just behind them and his chances will be boosted by two encouraging runs over this course and distance, in his last two. An experienced campaigner at this level, he has a nice chance here. GLENAFTON has also shown up well in his last two starts and he could’ve gone a lot closer than that 3,40-length beating last time out, had he not been caught wide around the turn. That Open Maiden looked slightly stronger on paper and with Michael Rodd up, he must be included. MY MONEY has dropped in the ratings and he has reached a competitive mark of 22, despite his consistent recent form. With just over 34% of runners drawn in pole, finishing in the first four places, he is not without a chance and must go in. GRATUS has also dropped in the ratings recently. He finished just 1,5-lengths behind the winner, the last time he attempted this course and distance and that was three starts back, off a rating 5-points higher than his current mark of 41. With the added benefit of the 2kg claiming Shafrizal reengaged to ride him, he has a reasonable chance and should be right there.

Race 8 – 10:40 – Class 5 – 1700m
Selections: 3 – 9 – 10 – 8 – 2
LUCKY TIGER has been in good form and he has enjoyed the recent switch to the Poly in his last two starts. Having won his penultimate, he handled the 5-point rise in his rating well last time out and with both efforts being over the mile, he should enjoy this trip. With the added benefit of the more experienced rider engaged, he should be a major contender here. JOYFUL ASPIRATION has dropped 8-points in the ratings recently and he is starting to show some threatening form. He is still winless after 9 efforts, but with the switch back to the Poly, he could make a big impression. JK FLASH found absolutely no luck in running last time out over this course and distance, when fining himself positioned wide without cover and he did well to box on for just a 1,80-length defeat. He drops 5kg’s and has since followed up with two decent trials. He finds an improved draw and must be included. SPUR ME ON had no issues stepping up to the 7-furlongs last time out, after contesting over sprints prior to that. Back on the Poly after that latest effort, when caught wide for a long way, he finds a tough barrier. With that said, Wong takes the ride and his strong finish on these terms brings him right into this.

Race 9 – 11:10 – Class 3 – 1000m
Selections: 1 – 8 – 4 – 3 – 2
MISS DUSTY is a four-time winner from just 14 starts so far and she will relish this drop back to the minimum trip. She is three-points higher than the rating she last won off, but with the services of Noh Senari, she has the benefit of the 1kg reduction. If sitting off the early tempo, she should enjoy the expected pace and that brings her right into contention here. MAN OF MYSTERY has taken well to the recent rise in class, with his last three starts being at this level. A 2-time winner from 13 starts, he will be fitted with the blinkers this time and Nizar retains the ride, having just missed on him last time. He is a consistent performer over this course and distance and on current form, must go in. KISS YOUR SONG has been in good consistent form over this course and distance, at this level of late. He stepped up slightly in trip in his last two starts, with his latest being on Turf and he will relish reverting back to the poly this time. He has only missed the first four on 6 occasions from his 27 outings here and with Kellady retaining the ride, he is a definite inclusion. AL GREEN won last time out, over this course and distance, when dropping in class and carrying the added weight. Back to Class 3 level this time, he brings some decent form with him prior to that win and Michael Rodd makes for an attractive jockey booking. He will be suited to the expected speed and must be considered.

Race 10 – 11:40 – Class 4 – 1100m
Selections: 1 – 4 – 8 – 3 – 9
CHALAZA gave a solid account of himself last time out when dropping into this class and returning to the Poly. He did well to overcome the draw and from a slightly better draw this time, Rodd takes the mount. The speed should be on and he should enjoy the tempo from just off them, in the early parts. With his smart finish, he’ll be finishing over the top and should be the right one to end off on a high note for punters. FLAUNT was an impressive winner in Class 5 company last time and the 4-year old son of Pure Prize steps back up in class, for his 15th start here. Wong retains the ride and having finished just off them in this class prior to that latest effort, he deserves respect. SUPERSONICSURPRISE was caught out wide last time, from a wide barrier and he was never really in the race thereafter. He finds an improved draw here and on his penultimate start over the slightly shorter trip, he should be a major contender. BILLY MOJO makes a comeback and the son of Mastercraftsman will be looking to make a good impression first-up. He is still on the improve and if not finding this trip a touch on the sharp side, he should be involved in the finish.
