International Racing: Kranji (Turf / Poly) – Friday 28 February 2020

Jockeys ride horses

Nine races are carded for the penultimate meeting for February 2020 and there are a few good opportunities to have a confident bet on this program.

TOM CAT should be the best bet to follow, when he goes to post in the 3rd race.  The son of Wandjina looks set to make a big impression this time, after a much-improved run last time. Prior to that, WILD BEE should be some value in the opener after a solid effort from a wide barrier last time. He returns to the same course and distance and lands a useful draw this time around.

Best Bet: TOM CAT (Race 3)
Value Bet: WILD BEE (Race 1)

As mentioned above, WILD BEE is tipped to win the first, when he returns to the same course and distance as his previous run. The 5-year old son of Niagara finds conditions to suit from a useful draw and Apprentice Iskandar retains the ride for what should be a bold showing. His biggest danger could come in the form of the top-weighted ALLEGRO who has been slipping the ratings for some time now and he is fast approaching a rating that should land him in the winners’ enclosure.

GEB WARRIOR should be worth following in a competitive second race. He has been dropping down in the ratings for some time now and he lands a solid draw after little luck in that department, in recent times. Apprentice Yusuf takes the ride for this return to the Turf course and if he is over those respiratory issues experienced last time out, he should be a leading contender at the finish.

Race 3 kicks off the first of three events on the Polytrack and it’s TOM CAT who should be the first to cross the finish line. He won his most recent trial in fine style and finds conditions to suite for his 4th outing in Singapore. A clear best bet on the program, Ruan Maia is booked for the ride and should provide some added confidence for his followers. TOOSBIES could be his biggest danger, if over those soundness issues he experienced in his latest effort.

Back on the Turf track for the 4th Race and it’s MR ROCKWELL who looks hard to knock on his most recent effort. He returns to the same course and distance and lands a much-improved draw this time. LIM’S PRIDE looks to be the biggest threat with Vlad Duric retaining the mount after a solid recent effort. It is hard to see past these two leading contenders, so a boxed exacta could be the way to go.

GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT is the firm selection to win the 5th, a Class 4 event over the 1400m Turf course. Up five points for winning last time out when lugging across the track in the home straight, but he is more than capable of another big show here with Louis-Philippe Beuzelin booked to ride. AXEL wasn’t far off the top selection last time out and on that effort, he deserves some respect.

Back on the Poly Track for the 6th Race and it makes for an interesting mile contest. LIM’S RHYTHM gave a solid account of himself last time out, when boxing on from a tough draw and he will be looking to take advantage of a mildly better barrier this time around. Benny Woodworth is a notable booking and they should be the ones to follow.

VITTORIA PERFETTA is the stablemate of ON LINE and wasn’t beaten far behind THREEANDFOURPENCE last time from a wide barrier. He is handicapped to reverse that form and should go well here from gate 8. The latter is up five points for his Kranji Stakes B win last time, finishing with a powerful late surge. He should be right in the thick of things again and must be included in the 7th race.

It’s another mile on the Turf for the penultimate race on the card and ROCKET STAR should be the one to follow. He tries the mile for the first time and all indications are that he should thrive over this journey. With any luck in running from a wide barrier, he should go close. STRONG N POWERFUL is an in-form galloper drawn well. It’s always a big ask to win four in a row, but he’s an improving sort that warrants respect.

The final race on the program makes for a competitive sprint on the Poly Track. The top-weighted LIMS ZOOM has found some solid form and he should give a very good account of himself despite the wide barrier he has to negate. He has been knocking on the door since picking up his second victory not so long ago and looks the one to favour once again. GAMELY comes off a win in Open Maiden company last time and will need to up his game to make an impression here. With that said, the son of Golden Archer finds a plum draw and could follow up.
