Race 1
MY MATE SONNY is the stable elect from the Darren Magro yard and he went close last time out and shouldn’t be a maiden for much longer. PERUVIAN EXPRESS has placed third in his last two outings and looks to be the biggest threat on form. QUICKER THAN SLICK is a battling maiden but he often pops up in the placed and must be respected in this contest.
Race 2
A very open Maiden Plate where some caution is advised. COLD GOLD only just beat LIBERTY BLUE last time out and the pair look set to fight out the finish of this contest. GREAT WHITE HOPE has not raced since March but still has obvious scope for improvement and could be one to upset.
Race 3
JAAMINT is in superb form and goes extremely well under Lizzie Annells. She can follow up on her last victory but does meet a competitive field this afternoon. ARCTIC BLAZE gets a nice turnaround in the weights and she can reverse the form of her last start when she was beaten by the top selection. AUGUSTA ROCK is surprisingly still a one-time winner but may have to settle for a place in this contest.
Race 4
SOUR CREAM ran a formidable second last time out and has the speed to overcome her wide draw without using too much gas. HARBOUR EXPRESS seems to relish racing at Port Augusta and looks a lively threat to the top selection. CAITLYN’S ANGEL holds a few of her competitors on her last run and could be upset potential in this contest.
Race 5
MY LESSON relished making her course debut on this track last time out when she romped home solidly by two lengths. She could repeat that in a field of this nature. PANDIORA is a track specialist and will be assisted by a 4kgs apprentice allowance. BOTTLE AND BIRD only finished midfield last time out but had consistent prior form and it would be no surprise to see him find a swift return to form.
Race 6
FULTON STREET is the best bet on the card. He looks well placed and should be tough to beat with a 3kgs apprentice claim assisting his cause. The veteran SPIEGEL GROVE has won many times on this track and could be the biggest threat to the top selection. RAPID RIDE looks the likely pacemaker in the race and he could battle on in the latter stages to finish in the money.
Race 7
TEXAS MILLER is the value bet on the card. He managed to defeat OLIVER’S TALE and MINNAMOSA in a hotly contested event last time out and the manner in which he won was impressive. He may just be able to hold off all challengers once again but it will be an intriguing contest to see this trio, renew their rivalries.
