International Racing – Rockhampton – Tuesday 21 April 2020

A ten-race programme is scheduled for Rockhampton on Tuesday. It is a very competitive card, but there is some nice value in a few races and money can be made. The best bet comes in Race 2 in the form of EMILEE’S EMPIRE who has finished second in her last four starts. Tasha Chambers has struck up a good partnership with her and the pair should be hard to beat.

Race 1
ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW produced a promising debut effort when finishing third over this distance. He over-raced in the early stages of the race but stayed on well at the business end. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he looks to be the one to side with here. SHE’S OUR EMPRESS is an unraced daughter of Holy Roman Emperor from the Ricky Vale yard. She was a winner of her last barrier trial coming into this race. If not too green, she could be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 2
EMILEE’S EMPIRE if a filly taking on the males and has finished second in her last four starts. She showed good pace in her last start but was outrun in the closing stages. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time this afternoon and if these have the desired effect, she should get rewarded for consistency. ISIS BRUMBY produced a promising debut effort over a similar distance on this course. He was given a 14-week break since that race, during which time he would have strengthened up. He has had a decent barrier trial coming into this race which means that fitness should not be an issue. Should the top selection fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 3
TRUMP ME has found a new lease on life since returning from a 19-week break. He has finished second in his last two starts over 1100m. He steps back up in distance this afternoon and the manner in which he races, suggests that should not be a concern. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Tasha Chambers retains the ride and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. PRINCE DUPORTH is better than his last effort suggests. He gets the winkers fitted for the first time and the headgear should help him keep his mind on the job. If repeating his penultimate run when finishing third over six furlongs, he may be right there in the run down to the wire.

Race 4
POETIC HEART is one of the better bets on today’s card. He has very good recent form to his name and won his last start over seven furlongs on this course. He loves racing on this track with a record of seven wins, seven seconds and two third-place finishes from 26 outings. Apprentice Elyce Smith retains the ride aboard the son of Show A Heart and the pair should notch up a quick double. REGAL REECE has very good form this season with a record of five wins, a second and two third-place finishes from twelve starts. He jumps from a handy barrier position this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

Race 5
FLYING BLONDE produced some decent form before given a 20-week break. She has very good form over this distance having finished second once and third three times from as many attempts. She would have strengthened up during her break and if not in need of the run, she may take a power of beating. OYASHIO showed good signs of returning to form when finishing third over six furlongs on this course. He set the pace that day, fought hard all the way to the line before getting caught in the shadow of the post. He is likely to adopt the same tactics today and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Race 6
TA CHANSON is the value bet on today’s card. He has not finished too far off the winner in his last three starts. He has a fair record over this distance which consists of a win, four seconds and a third-place finish from ten attempts. He jumps from a good draw today and could be the one to side with here. QUIDNI was in need of his comeback run over this course and distance last time. He has won once and finished third twice from four attempts over this distance. He gets the services of 1.5kg claiming apprentice Elyce Smith who is more than capable of getting the job done. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 7
PARISIAN TYCOON has very good form to his name this season having won three times, finishing second once and third twice from eleven starts. He is unbeaten in his only start on this course. The son of Denmarket is having his second run after a rest today and should strip a much fitter horse. Brad Pengelly knows him well and the pair should be very tough to beat. BRAD followed up his maiden win with another good victory over a similar distance last time. The son of Medaglia D’Oro is drawn in pole position today and has a good chance of notching up his hat-trick under Trinity Bannon.

Race 8
ABSOLUT ARTIE is another that is one of the better bets on today’s card. He has produced two good runs since returning from a 21-week break. He loves racing on this course with a record of three wins and a third-place finish from as many starts. Tasha Chambers does duty for the first time and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. CELEBRATION DAY was just beaten in his comeback run over 1100m last time. He ran on strongly at the finish that day and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer this afternoon. Girish Goomany retains the ride and the pair could be the ones to cause the upset in this field.

Race 9
CYCLONE FUGITIVE has very good consistent formlines to his name. He loves racing over this course and distance with a record of three wins and four-second place finishes from eight outings. The son of Changeintheweather does meet a competitive field this afternoon, but he has the credentials to get the job done. RAIDEN won his last start over a similar distance on this course last time. He beat the top selection by 0.5 lengths that day but is 2kgs worse off at the weights this afternoon. It may be hard for the son of Foxwedge to confirm that result. He should be one of the leading contenders for the placings in this field.

Race 10
VAN WINKEL won his last start over seven furlongs on this course well. He has a very good record on this track having won four times, finishing second eleven times and third once from 27 outings. Elyce Smith has been aboard the son of Magnus for two of his wins and the pair should be hard to beat from pole position. CHINCHINBELLA is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over seven furlongs on this course. He gets the services of 3kg claiming apprentice Dakota Graham who has been aboard him for his last two wins. He may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.
