THE ABRAXAS has been racing in stronger company and takes a drop in class this afternoon. Zac Purton does duty for the first time and in this company, the son of Bon Hoffa has a good chance of getting back to winning ways. RED BRICK FIGHTER has come well in his last two starts. He should have finished closer last time, as he was crowded at the 75m mark. He is yet to win in Hong Kong, but this is his best chance to notch up his maiden win in the city.
BELUGA produced a promising debut over this course and distance. He raced three wide that day, but kept on well at the business end of the race. He would have come on from the outing and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better. Zac Purton retains the ride which is a big plus. TRUE LEGEND is an unraced son of Deep Field from the Frankie Lor stable. Joao Moreira takes the ride and if not too green, the pair should pose a big threat to the top selection.
ZERO HEDGE has finished runner-up in his last three starts. He set the pace in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Trust Me. The son of Medaglia d’Oro does have a wide draw to overcome, but with his early gate speed, he should be able to get across without using up too much energy. Claiming apprentice Alfred Chan retains the ride and the pair may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. DUBLIN STAR made the natural improvement in his last start over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.
JUNEAU PARK is the best bet on today’s card. He was given every chance over this course and distance last time and just missed. He doesn’t meet the strongest field today and from barrier position two, he should be tough to beat. KING DRAGON could be the one to fill the exacta. He has produced five fair starts thus far, and from his positive draw of five, he should be right there at the finish.
FOODIE PRINCESS has won his last two starts well over the 1650m. He was ultra-impressive when winning his last start despite issues at the start and having to check at the 1300m mark. He does try the distance for the first time, but the manner in which he won last time suggests that he should not have any issues seeing out the trip. The son of Sepoy has a good chance of notching up the hat-trick. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU finished 3.5 lengths behind the top selection in his last start. He is weighted to finish must closer this afternoon. From his good draw of two, he must be included in all bets.
SMOOTHIES is the value bet on the day. He made the natural improvement in his last start when stepping up to this distance. He set the pace that day, but lacked a strong finish up the straight. Derek Leung rides from a good draw and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s area. HIGH RISE SOLDIER showed good signs of a form return when stepping up to this distance last time. Vincent Ho knows the son of Snitzel well and the pair merit healthy respect.
BEAR SLAM won his last two starts well under today’s pilot Joao Moreira. He took the lead at the 150m mark and drew off well for victory. He doesn’t meet the strongest line-up this afternoon and the pair may be hard to beat. RED ELYSEES’ last run on this surface was good. He pushed through down the rail and kept on well at the business end to finish runner-up. Zac Purton rides for the first time and from a good draw of two, he should pose a big threat to the top choice.

He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well at the business end of the race. Zac Purton rides this afternoon which is a big plus and the pair may be hard to catch in the closing stages. PRECIOUSSHIP is in top form, winning four of his last five starts. He does face his toughest test this afternoon, but the manner in which he has won in his last two starts, suggests that he may be up to the task at hand. It is encouraging that jockey Vincent Ho knows this son of Iffraaj well.
VALIANT DREAM’S last three runs have been very good. He cost himself winning last time as he hung from the 400m mark. Blake Shinn retains the ride from pole position and if he is able to keep this son of Magnus on a straight line, he may be the one that they all have to beat. BALLISTIC KING has consistent formlines to his name. He cost himself last time as he did not get off to the best of starts. Chad Schofield does duty once again and the pair should pose a threat to the top selection.
MIGHTY GIANT was an easy winner last time when drawing clear to win by 4.25 lengths at the line. Zac Purton is aboard the son of Power once again and the pair have a good chance of notching up the double. PRIVATE ROCKET showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this course and distance. He is drawn in pole position this afternoon and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to pose the biggest threat to the top selection.
