International Racing: Sha Tin – Sunday 7 June 2020

A large and competitive ten-race programme is scheduled for Sha Tin on Sunday with heavy underfoot conditions predicted. The best bet is WAR OF COURAGE in Race 7. He likes to set the pace in his races and with Magic Moreira up, he looks set to record his third career victory.

Race 1
TIGERLAD has performed well in his last two starts under Wong. He should get across from his wide draw without using too much energy and should go close in this contest. The chestnut EXPONENTS finished runner-up in his penultimate start under Chadwick and looks the biggest danger to the top selection. SUPREME PLUS was narrowly beaten last time at Happy Valley and gets Magic Moreira in the saddle. He must also be considered in this contest.

Race 2 
FARM BUMBER got going too late last time out at Happy Valley but has been ultra-consistent since the beginning of March and he should be doing his best work in the latter stages of this contest. The filly LADY FIRST is another one who will benefit from racing off a decent gallop and she ran on well last time under Chadwick. She looks the biggest threat to the top selection. MONKEY JEWELLERY has placed third, in his last three outings under Moreira, and should run into the places again.

Race 3
LUCKY QUALITY finished runner-up last time out but should have finished closer to the winner on that occasion. He had to check at the 550m mark and only got a clear run in the latter stages of that contest. It is encouraging that Teetan retains the ride and the pair should take a power of beating in this contest. WOOD ON FIRE showed good early pace last time under Mo and could opt to set the pace again. He looks the obvious threat to the top selection. SUPER EIGHTEEN surprisingly found a form return at long-odds last time and can run into places of this contest.

Race 4
CURLING LUXURY has finished runner-up in his last two starts. He jumps from a neat draw and should adopt front-running tactics in this contest. YOUNG GLORY hasn’t got a clear passage in his last two starts and didn’t finish too far off the winner on both occasions. He looks the biggest danger to the top selection. ENJOYABLE SUCCESS likes to settle off the pace and do his best work late. He has got going too late in his last two starts but if the rider can get going on him early, he could upset in this contest.

Race 5 
The chestnut JADE FORTUNE caught the eye last time when producing a strong late dash up the rail on this track. He has placed twice under Purton recently and should take a power of beating in this contest. LEAP OF FAITH wasn’t disgraced in his comeback effort on this track and he will strip fitter for this contest. It is also encouraging that Moreira retains the ride and the top two jockeys in Hong Kong look set to battle it out. KA YING BRILLIANCE is much better than that last effort. He was unfortunately found to have nasal discharge by the vet in his latest and a line should possibly be put through that effort.

Race 6
HEZA BEAUTY is the value bet on the card. He was only narrowly beaten last time on this track under Moreira. They jump from a neat draw and the pair will look to make amends in this contest. EPITWINS caught the eye last time under Purton in a blanket finish and looks the obvious threat to the top selection. Hamelin dropped the whip with 200m left to go when riding ALL FOR ST PAUL’S last time and the pair can run into the places of this contest.

Race 7
WAR OF COURAGE set a decent gallop last time and only got caught with 50m left to go when he found one better that day. Moreira could opt to make the pace in the race and he may be hard to peg back in the latter stages of this contest. Schoefield interestingly rides REFINED TREASURE now having recently partnered with the top selection. He jumps from a neat draw and could present the biggest danger to the top selection. CALIFORNIA ARCHER showed good pace last time under Teetan and the minimum trip seems to suit him best at this stage of his career. He can run into the places of this contest.

Race 8
RELENTLESS ME is in search of a hat-trick after going back-to-back in this class and he looks difficult to oppose on paper in this contest. The South African Bred LOBO’S LEGEND is best placed in Class 3 and it is encouraging that Moreira takes the ride. He found a form return last time out over this course and distance, and looks the biggest danger to the top selection. GUY DRAGON likes to race off the pace and although he hasn’t finished in the money in his last two starts, he made up some good ground in the latter stages.

Race 9
MR ALDAN impressed last time out when finishing runner-up on this track and may have finished closer if not for getting bumped with 50m left to go in the race. Teetan won aboard him in February and they look set to notch up another victory in this contest. CHEERFUL LEADER has been an absolute model of consistency this year and was only caught late last time on this track. He looks the biggest threat to the top selection. HELLO DADDY hasn’t been far off the winner in his last two starts and can run into the places again.

Race 10
GLORIOUS SPECTRUM has finished runner-up in his last two starts under Hamelin and he looks difficult to oppose on paper in this contest. The lucky last is not all cut-and-dried though. MONGOLIAN KING won his penultimate start under Teetan and looks the biggest threat to the top selection. MORETHANLUCKY was making up some good ground on the rail last time out and with Purton aboard, he can upset in this contest.
