Jockeys ride horses

There are 11 races to look forward to this Sunday 8th March 2020, with the headline event coming early, in Race 4, a Class 1 event over the 1200m.

The best bet on the card comes in that race, in the form of HOT KING PRAWN, who will be looking to progress on that solid recent Group 1 form. For value, FORTUNE HAPPINESS gets the nod in Race 2. Despite the wide draw he faces, the son of Starspangledbanner has the credentials to make a big impression and must be considered. See more here.

Best Bet: HOT KING PRAWN (Race 4)
Value Bet: FORTUNE HAPPINESS (Race 2)

We start with Race 1 and punters shouldn’t have to look further that WINWIN THIRTYTHREE. Despite the wide barrier, he gets the services of top ranked jockey Joao Moreira and with his fast finish he’ll be eating up the ground over the final furlong.

As mentioned above, FORTUNE HAPPINESS has a tough draw to overcome in the 2nd, but he has found some worthy form and should relish the return to the All-Weather were he has built up a solid record of 3 wins from 8 appearances. If there is a danger to the top selection, TOUCH OF LUCK needs to be considered. The son of Hard Spun lands another useful draw and he should relish the drop trip.

In an open 3rd Race, Zac Purton has a useful opportunity to add another winner to his seasons total when he boards MY WINNER. The wide draw will suit, as he likes to see the field in front of him and with a useful pace expected he looks set to make a big challenge late.

Race 4 brings us to the headline race on the card as well as the proposed best bet. HOT KING PRAWN is the horse in question, and he comes into this event on the back of some very useful Group 1 form. From a plum draw, he should be tough to collar in the closing stages. For 2nd, the likes of MR STUNNING should have a reasonable shout. He’ll be cherry ripe for this and with Teetan up, deserves plenty of respect.

ALLOY STAR gave a very useful account of himself when making his debut in early February. He found a ton of traffic in that run, but with a smoother path this time, he looks the likely winner of the 5th race.

POWER KING has been in good consistent form in recent times and he should still have plenty of scope, with just the 5 runs under his belt. Zac Purton retains the ride and that will give his followers some confidence in the 6th. The dangers appear to be the likes of MOON PEAKS and FOCUS.

MEGA HEART has been in good consistent form of late and the All-Weather specialist lands a plum draw, with Moreira retaining the ride. He should win soon, despite his constant climb in the ratings and this could be a great opportunity for the son of Foreplay. MR WEALTH finished right on front of the top selection last time and he has a much-improved draw this time. Zac Purton takes the mount and he should be a leading contender.

GLORIOUS LOVER gave a good impression in his Hong Kong debut and he looks set to show big improvement over the extra furlong, if finding a smoother passage this time. Drawn well again, Purton retains the ride and he’ll be worth following in race 8. LAKESHORE EAGLE looks competitive off his current rating and he lands a plum draw here, after a solid effort from gate 11 last time. A 3-time winner from just 9 outings, he looks the biggest threat to the top pick.

An interesting Class 2 event greats punters in the 9th race and cases can be made for several contenders. HELENE CHARISMA gave a solid account of himself last time, when stepping up to 10-furlongs. He drops back to the 1800m here and the slightly quicker tempo should suit. From a perfect draw, he deserves plenty of respect. CHEFANO has followed his first win in Hong Kong, three starts back, with two good efforts. With a 4th at Group 3 level in his penultimate start, he should go right into contention over the same course and distance here.

The penultimate race on the card is another Class 2 test, this time over the minimum trip of 1000m and DUKE WAI looks the obvious pick. With 3-wins from 4 attempts over this course and distance, he has his third start at this level and finds a useful draw with Karis Teetan up. With that said, he should be very tough to beat. HONG KONG WIN rises into Class 2 company and he deserves some respect as a potential danger, with plenty more scope for improvement.

The final race on the card should be straight forward, with top weighted LUCKY MORE presenting a nice opportunity for punters to finish on a high. He finds a perfect draw this time and with Purton retaining the ride, he should get the job done for ‘favourite’ backers. MERIDIAN GENIUS seems to be holding his own since rising into this class and with Moreira retaining the ride, he could be the biggest danger to the top one.
