Race 5

NORTHERN KNIGHT has finished second in his last two runs, the latest when a head back over 1300M. He had to be held up between the 400M and 200M mark that day and was then hampered at the 75M pole. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but with better luck in running, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. BOYLES on the other hand has cracked pole position and showed good improvement when winning his last start over seven furlongs by nearly two lengths. He has his peak run here after returning from a 39-week break and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. HAVANA STORM is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she missed out on her hat-trick when finishing fifth last time out over seven furlongs after having won her previous two outings over the same trip. She has a handy draw four and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

HENSCHEL tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in second place last time out over this six furlong dash, just under two lengths back from the winner. He was only run out of it late and from gate two, he is likely to adopt similar tactics today. He will also have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. DREAMTIME MAGIC is a 4yr old filly taking on males and is drawn one outside the top pick. She goes for her hat-trick after winning her latest outing over this distance and the form of that race has been franked. She returns from a 22-week absence but has had the benefit of a barrier trial to prove her fitness. CASINO FOURTEEN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a seventh-place finish next time out over six furlongs, 3.8L behind the victor. He will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but he is likely to be dropped out of it early and should be picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages.

Race 7

CHAMISAL has consistent formlines to his name and finished second in his last outing over today’s trip, just a neck back from the winner. He overraced early that day and did well to stay on over the latter stages to be collared in the shadow of the post. From his gate four, he looks to be the value bet on the program. MISTER SMARTEE won his penultimate start over seven furlongs by two and a half lengths and then followed that up with a fourth-place finish next time out over 1500M, just under two lengths off the winner. He was making good late progress in that contest and from draw two, he should be right up there when they hit the line. LOSE THE SNIP is seldom far off the action and jumped awkwardly last time out and then had to be checked at the 900M mark before ending up in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, three lengths adrift of the winner. He faces a wide eleven draw but should use his early gate speed to more across without expending too much energy.

Race 8

CHARGEMENT has pulled pole position and has finished fourth in his last two runs over six furlongs, the latest when just under two lengths behind the winner. He finished strongly that day suggesting that the step up in distance will be to his liking. STONECOLD FLEX has his peak run here after returning from a 13-week rest and battled all the way down to the wire before finishing fifth in his last start over six furlongs, 3.7L behind the winner. He faces a wideish draw eight, but he should keep the former honest. CLASSY FELLA struggled to get a clear run in the straight before ending up in fifth place in his last outing over six furlongs, just two lengths back from the winner. He jumps from gate three and with better luck in running today, he should be right up there in the firing line.
