Race 1
A tricky race to open today’s program in that the horses that have raced have suspect form and the three unraced entrants have not had barrier trials. As is always in case of these types of races, the betting market might be the best guide. Of the raced runners, NORTHERN GREAT might be the best. His last effort was disappointing, but he had finished second twice in a row over five furlongs before that. He steps up to six furlongs, but if bouncing back to his best, he should be right up there at the finish. FIVEACLOCKSOMWHERE improved in his last outing over five furlongs and if he is able to confirm the effort, he should be considered here. BETTER THAN THAT is a filly taking on the boys on debut and is drawn in gate eight. Any betting support for her should be respected. The same comment applies to WHISKEY SUNRISE who is also a filly having her first run. She is drawn one inside the latter.

Race 2
EROE was beaten by only half-length last time out over 1300M and although he starts from draw nine out of ten, he could be the one to side with here. BENVENUTI on the other hand, jumps from gate two. He steps up to seven furlongs after two solid efforts over six furlongs and if taking to the extra ground, he could trouble the former. THE WONDAI WASP is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she showed marked improvement last time out over six furlongs and if confirming that effort, she should be involved in the finish today. BRANDS HATCH is seldom too far off the action and could enjoy the extra distance.

Race 3
FAMILY STAR has only had the two runs to date, both over five furlongs where he has finished less than two lengths off the winner. He has his second start since a 24-week break and if not in need of one more outing, he should be right up there in the mix, starting from draw two. FINAL WARNING finished some way off the winner on debut over six furlongs and drops in trip here. He would have learned from the experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he should be considered here. ME AND MY DRUM disappointed when stepping up to 1300M last out and quickly drops back in distance and should do better as a result. ARTE ET MARTE has been thereabouts in his last three runs, but he is a long-time maiden who may have to settle for a minor place once again.

Race 4
CONFRONTING put three lengths between himself and the rest of the field when winning last time out over seven furlongs and although dropping in trip, he looks to be the one that they all have to beat. BEST HOFFA has consistent form to his name and was only beaten a head in his last outing over six furlongs. He looks the immediate threat to the former. LADY SKILLS is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she did finish two lengths off the winner last time out over six furlongs and should give the males a good run for their money. MISTA BUSY has the widest draw of them all, but he won his last outing over six furlongs last time out despite being friendless in the betting markets. If that was not a one-off performance, he should be respected in this field.

Race 5
DONT CHEAT CHARLIE finished third last time out over a mile, 1.5L behind the victor. He jumps from gate two and will get 3kg taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. DEADLY DAY won his maiden race last time out over 1300M and although taking on stronger here, he might just be up to the task on hand, despite facing a wideish draw. EMSHALKY is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she is seldom too far off the action and should put in another honest performance today. DISTRACTED is drawn the widest of them all, but he was close up last time out over seven furlongs and should be doing his best work late.

Race 6
A seriously competitive field faces the starter here and finding the winner is no easy task. CHEVAUX has consistent form to his name and was only beaten a short-head last time out over 1300M. the extra distance should not present an issue and from gate four, he is the narrow top choice. CENTRO SUPERIOR is equally as consistent and has pulled pole position. He should keep the former honest. WHILE WE CAN is seldom far back and won his last outing over a mile. He drops back in distance here, but is drawn one outside the latter and should be right up there in the firing line. MOSEF won a head last time out over seven furlongs and should be considered for all bets.

Race 7
LOVE IS BLIND just missed out on his hat-trick last time out over six furlongs, but will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today starting from his gate five. TIGER CAN also failed in his hat-trick attempt last time out over the six furlongs and despite being drawn wide at stall eleven, he should make his presence felt in this contest. TABATHA MISS is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys. She is another with consistent formlines to her credit and had that rewarded when posting her maiden victory last time out over five furlongs. She will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice to aid her cause. WHITTERICK was only denied his win last time out over six furlongs in the shadow of the post. He is drawn one from the outside, but should not be lightly dismissed here.

Race 8
BUOYANCY is seldom far off the winner and finished second in his last outing over this c&d, 1.5L behind the winner. He has proven form in soft going. SER SER SCHON is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she has finished second in her last two starts over five furlongs and will be hoping to go one better today. KISS ME LATER is drawn in gate three and if he can repeat his effort over this distance three runs back, he would pose a big threat to the top selections. MISS FLAWLESS is a 4yr old filly with consistent form and will start from draw five. She will also get 3kg taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
