Race 3
SIR ISAAC NEWTON has consistent formlines to his credit and has cracked pole position. He finished third last time out when returning from a lengthy 74-week break and has put in a good barrier trial since that outing. INAYFORHAY won his last start over fourteen furlongs and steps up in trip today. He did win his subsequent barrier trial and if taking to the extra ground, he could rival the former. STEAM ROLLER showed good improvement in his last outing over thirteen furlongs and is likely to enjoy going the extra trip. HARVARD is seldom too far off the winner and although he finished seventh last time out over thirteen furlongs, he was just 3.9L behind the victor. He should be considered in this line-up.
Race 4
With the two scratchings, the field has been reduced to just five runners and this could leave the door open for RIDING HIGH to post his sixth career victory. He finished strongly to win his last outing over this distance and will be hoping to complete the double today. FLYING AGENT did finish second last time out over fourteen furlongs, but just one length behind the winner. He has a barrier trial since then and could be the biggest threat to the former. DIAMOND STAR HALO is a five-year-old mare taking on the boys. She is consistent and did win over this trip three runs back. She is sure to give the males a good run for their money. ANDREA MANTEGNA finished a long way back when fourth last time out over this trip, but has had a barrier trial since then and may do better as a result.
Race 5
GEORGETHEFIFTH was a little disappointing last time out over 2700M but had finished second in his previous two outings. He steps up in trip here, but he had a barrier trial since that below-par last effort and should be right up there when they hit the line. CAROUN showed marked improvement in his last two runs and will be aided by having 3kgs taken off his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice. SPEEDY JAX could be on the way up judged by his recent efforts and if he has continued along that same path, he could be involved in the finish here. NEWBURY was some way back last time out over sixteen furlongs, but he has won a barrier trial since then and should not be overlooked.
Race 6
THE DOMINATOR has pulled pole position and did finish second in his last outing over sixteen furlongs when attracting plenty of betting support. He takes a step up in trip, but on his last performance, this should be well within his grasp. HE’S A GENIUS goes for his hat-trick and won his penultimate start over this c&d. He looks the immediate threat to the former. UROMAN won his last outing over sixteen furlongs and has had a barrier trial since then. He will be looking to complete his double here, despite taking a leap in distance. SLOWPOKE RODRIGUEZ is seldom too far behind the action and has had a barrier trial since finishing fifth last time out over twelve furlongs.
Race 7
ABLAZE has reeled off four wins in a row over a variety of staying distances and will be hoping to complete the quartet here. He steps up in distance, but the manner in which he dispatched his opposition to win his last outing over sixteen furlongs would suggest chalking up five in a row is very much on the cards. ZED EM was somewhat disappointing last time out on the synthetic track, but he did win his penultimate outing over ten furlongs. Back on turf, he could be the biggest danger to the top bet on the day. BOLD BANDIT is another who did not appear to take to the synthetic surface last time out but has put in a solid barrier trial at this venue since then. BIT OF A LAD also steps up in distance after being a tad disappointing last time out over sixteen furlongs. He has had a barrier trial since then and he could be looking for this greater test of stamina.
Race 8
RUNAWAY attempts his hat-trick here and did win his penultimate start over this distance by some ten lengths. He has proven form in soft going and must be a leading contender in this contest. ANCIENT KING also goes for his trio of wins after winning over this distance in his last outing, despite being friendless in the betting markets. He should be a big factor here. ROBBIE’S STAR has put in two encouraging efforts, the latest being over this sixteen-furlong journey. He should be chasing down the frontrunners in the dash to the wire. GOBSTOPPER finished third last time over this distance but did record a win over the c&d three runs back. He should be included in all bets.
