ON THE PROGRAM produced a promising
debut effort when finishing third on debut at Bendigo. He would have come on
with the experience under his belt and should make the natural improvement this
afternoon. Apprentice Thomas Stockdale does duty and the pair should find
themselves in the winner’s enclosure. BARANGAREADY produced a fair debut
over the minimum trip at Bendigo. She has been given a 17-week break since,
during which time she would have strengthened up. Michael Dee rides the
daughter of More Than Ready on her return and if fit and well, she should be
the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.
Race 2
OLD HEAD produced an eye-catching debut effort when finishing
runner-up at Pakenham over six furlongs. He was unlucky not to have won that
day as he was held up for a run until the 250m mark and only got going late. It
must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He would have come
on from the run and with the natural progression that is expected, he should be
the one they all have to beat. PERSAN showed good improvement in his last start before
given a 24-week break. He is having his first run for his new conditioner and
if settled into his new surroundings, he may be the one to pose the biggest
threat to the top selection.
