The best bet comes in Race 8 in the form of TOO CLOSE THE SUN who is a six-time winner from twelve outings. He won his last start well under Declan Bates and the pair will be looking to notch up a quick double.

Race 1
ICANTOO is an unraced daughter of Per Incanto from the Leon and Troy Corstens stable with Craig Williams doing duty. She hasn’t had a barrier trial coming into this race, but she is well-bred and doesn’t have to be one of the stable superstars to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances. TAYLOR’S DREAM produced a promising debut effort when finishing third over this distance at Bendigo. The daughter of Rubick would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice. She gets the services of Jamie Kah which is encouraging.

Race 2
STREET TOUGH produced a decent comeback run over 1100m at Geelong. He didn’t get off to the best of starts that day, raced from a mid-field position, and made steady progress up the straight to finish fourth. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has finished third twice from three attempts over this distance. Billy Egan retains the ride this afternoon and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. SANTELMO FUEGO returns from a well-deserved 25-week break. He has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this distance. If fit and well, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 3
CHROME ANGEL took on stronger in her last start over six furlongs at Caulfield. It must be noted that two horses from that form line have come out and won since. She was an impressive winner on debut over this distance at Bendigo. The daughter of Street Boss takes a drop-in class this afternoon and with Jamie Kah in the saddle, she should be the one to side with here. NIGHT OF DELIGHT produced a promising debut effort when finishing third over 1112m at Sale. She showed good speed that day and was caught in the shadow of the post. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be right there in the run down to the line.

Race 4
BRILLIANT CONCEPT is the value bet on today’s card. He was in need of his last start over this distance at Sandown. He raced from a mid-field position that day and chased solidly all the way to the finishing post. It must be noted that three horses from that form line have come out and won since. He should strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and with Brad Rawiller in the saddle, he looks to be the one they all have to beat. WHEAL GRACE got back to winning ways in her last start over this distance at Geelong. She has won twice and finished third once from six attempts over this trip. She makes her course debut this afternoon and if suited to the track, she may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

Race 5
GOLDEN GORGE got back to winning ways in his last start over this distance at Sandown, four weeks ago. He set the pace that day and held on where it matters most. It must be noted that three horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is having a good season with a record of two wins and two third-place finishes from five starts. Craig Williams retains the ride and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure once again. OBI was in need of his comeback run over six furlongs at Pakenham last time. He makes his course debut from pole position today and if suited to the track, may pose the biggest threat to the top choice. Jockey Brad Rawiller has a decent 28%-win strike rate for this trainer.

Race 6
This is an open contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is QUALITY APPROACH who was a surprise winner in his last start over a mile at Terang. He was returning from a 13-week break that day, which makes the victory that much more encouraging. The son of Dawn Approach is making his course debut this afternoon and if suited to the track, he should be the one they all have to beat. JENKINS showed some good signs of returning to best form in his last start. The manner in which he finished off the race that day was encouraging. It must be noted that two horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is likely to settle near the rear of the field today and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 7
ORDER OF COMMAND was an impressive winner of his last start over six furlongs at Caulfield. He has won three times and finished second twice from seven attempts over this distance. Damien Oliver has a very good record aboard the son of Squamosa, having won five times and finishing second three times from twelve outings. He has another wide draw to contend with today, but he has class and should pull through. GREAT AGAIN is returning from a 23-week break. He runs well over today’s distance having won four times from six attempts. The son of Viscount is making his course debut this afternoon and if suited to the track, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.

Race 8
TOO CLOSE THE SUN has top consistent form to his credit. He was an impressive winner of the Terang Cup over 2150m in his last start. He has won six times, finished second once and third twice from nine outings this season. Declan Bates retains the ride aboard the son of Carlton House and the pair have a good chance of notching up a quick double. INVERLOCH is in top recent form. He won the Group 3 Easter Cup in his last start over ten furlongs well. It must be noted two horses from that form line have come out and won since. Jockey Michael Dee is unbeaten aboard the son of Fastnet Rock from two starts and the pair will be looking to keep that record intact today.

Race 9
NASHVILLE SOUND has produced three good runs since returning from a 36-week break. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many outings on this course. Jockey Declan Bates knows him well which is always a big plus. He does have a wide draw to contend with this afternoon, but he should use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy. HEIR TO THE THRONE is slowly returning to his best form. The manner in which he finished off his race last time was encouraging. He gets the services of 1.5kg claiming apprentice Will Price who has a decent 20%-win strike rate for this trainer. He makes his course debut and if suited to the course, he should pose a threat to the top selection.
