Race 5.
DIS DAH WUN goes for her hat-trick after winning her last two starts over five furlongs and the latest over this c&d. She put nearly six lengths between herself and the opposition that day and has her peak run here after returning from a 25 week break. She jumps from gate seven and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s program. JUST JESSIE is seldom far off the action and battled all the way down to the wire to finish second in her last outing over 1300M, just a neck behind the winner. She has a wideish gate nine to negotiate, but looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice. FLIRTY DEB has finished third in her last three runs, two of which were over this trip. She was caught wide in her latest outing over 1110M, but has cracked pole position here and should be involved in the finish.
Race 6.
Two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta. CLEVER MISS had her consistency rewarded with a half length victory last time out over five furlongs. She took over the lead at the 100M mark and then held off all challengers over the closing stages of the contest. She is sure to put her pole position to good use. SPLENDORONTHEGRASS returns from a 17 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust. She will also be having her first run for her new trainer, but drops back to sprinting after three outings over seven furlongs and may do better as a result. She jumps from draw five and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should be right up there in the mix. ICED finished fourth last time out over five furlongs when returning from a 21 week absence, but was reported to have been cut into, so that effort was encouraging. He starts from one gate inside the latter and should be included in all bets.
Race 7.
Three 4yr old fillies could dominate the finish of this contest and secure the trifecta, but OUR FRAULEIN seems the most likely winner. She followed up her penultimate run victory over this c&d with a third place finish over 1300M next time out, just a length behind the winner. She made good late progress that day and is likely to be dropped out of the race early from her wide gate eleven and should be picking off the frontrunners over the latter stages. ASTRALIS has consistent formlines to her credit and finished third last time out over the c&d, just under two lengths back from the winner, despite not getting the clearest of passages in the home straight. She has a wideish draw eight, but with better luck in running today, she could threaten the top pick. LOT’S WIFE has a first, second and a third place finish in her last three runs, all over seven furlongs. She returns from a 29 week break, but has had three barrier trials, winning the latest to prove her well-being. She faces the widest draw of them all at gate fourteen, but gets ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 8.
FULL NELSON is a winner of two of his last three outings, the latest by a head over this c&d. He was forced to race wide in that contest but still managed to wear down the pack over the final dash down to the line. He jumps from draw four and seems likely to turn in another honest performance today. As such, he is made the value bet on the card. BROCKY has not finished out the top three in his last three starts since returning from a 16 week rest and went from jump to wire to win his last start over seven furlongs by one length. Given his style of racing, he should use his early gate speed to move across from gate eleven without expending too much energy. REBEL ROCK ended up fourth in his last outing over 1300M, just over a length back from the victor. He has a far kinder draw five and will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.
