Top Bet
Race 1: WHOSE THAT GIRL(10)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Mike BASS

WHOSE THAT GIRL was very disappointing at short-odds when she tried six furlongs second time out. She showed lots of class when finishing strongly for a close 2nd on debut over this c & d behind her subsequent winning stable companion prior to that and the 13-week break would have helped her cause. The Mike Bass inmate has good scope for progress and reverting to this minimum trip could be ideal for the daughter of Gitano Hernando.

Race 3: TABLE BAY(2)

Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

This is a most intriguing contest and the Joey Ramsden yard could dominate the finish. The riding engagements suggest that TABLE BAY could be the stable elect and the imported son of Redoute’s Choice was an impressive six-furlong maiden winner, second time out. He comfortably beat his stablemate WORLD IN UNION that day and should relish this extra furlong on his pedigree. Furthermore, he has drawn pole position on his first venture around the turn and has obvious scope for progress.

Race 4: COME ON INN(2)

Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Adam MARCUS

This is another intriguing maiden contest and though the betting market may suggest otherwise, it isn’t a one-horse affair. There could be a form reversal and the daughter of Greys Inn, COME ON INN represents decent value in the contest. She has shown enough to warrant huge claims but did tire late when finishing 1.50 lengths adrift of the runner-up and likely short-priced favourite NAVASHA from the Brett Crawford yard. The Adam Marcus inmate was rightly asked to dictate that day but the long run-in eventually told on her. She races on this winter course for the first time and with her short but extremely effective burst of speed, Richard Fourie’s mount could be set to turn the tables.

Race 7: GALLA PLACIDIA(7)

Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Eric SANDS

GALLA PLACIDIA is a lightly raced four-year-old old who seems plagued with issues but she certainly has some class about her. Her comeback run over this c & d in early April was eye-catching as the speedy daughter of Trippi stayed on for a solid 3rd behind the talented topweight Neala (3rd in strong field subsequently). She still appears well ahead of the handicapper’s assessment and could be a huge threat in a field of this nature. The obvious worry is how she has taken that run.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: CAPTAIN BAGG(1)
Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: Eric SANDS

A competitive field of nine sprinters head to post here and a genuine case can be made for all of the participants. The Tevez formline in a pinnacle stakes c & d event could be the right one to follow and the speedy CAPTAIN BAGG gets the narrow first verdict. The consistent son of Captain Al stayed on for 4th in that contest and he should make his presence felt at this handicap level.
